Chapter 710 - 709 Auction

The remaining people who were not assigned to the encirclement began pairing up, climbing over walls and keeping watch for each other. One would be on alert for any sudden returns, while the other would stealthily head to the cellar to rescue the captive girls.
Those who were arranged to carry out the rescue mission were retired soldiers who had already scouted the place beforehand. They were more familiar with the environment and had extensive experience in rescuing hostages, making their actions skillful and adept.
Few of the women locked in the cellar were still mentally stable. Those who were slightly better would scream incessantly upon seeing a man, even kicking and hitting the rescuers. Some, upon hearing that the rescuers were retired soldiers who came to save them, would cry uncontrollably, but managed to quietly control themselves by covering their mouths to cooperate with their rescuers.
On the other hand, some had completely lost their sense of self, unable to comprehend human speech, and would only scream non-stop. In such cases, there was no choice but to knock them out and take them away. Others had become completely numb and unresponsive to the outside world, having sealed themselves off. No matter what was said, they would not react, so they were simply taken away.
The most challenging were those who were pregnant, as they were particularly inconvenient to move with their large bellies. Fortunately, there were two rescuers, making it possible to take them away.
The advance team had an eventful but safe journey to the village’s wall, where they gave a secret signal, much like ants moving house, transporting the people outside. They were then taken to a dormitory and comforted by the man with glasses and another man who frequently touched his stomach.
The advance team then returned, moving quickly to the remaining households.
The auction in the village center continued with fervor. Those standing on the outskirts were straining to listen in. "Dog Egg, what are you standing here for? Get inside and take a look, even if you can’t afford anything, it’s good to take a peek."
The man called Dog Egg rubbed his ear and said somewhat strangely, "No, I think I heard women screaming and crying. Could something have happened to the women in the cellar?"
"You must be hearing things. I didn’t hear anything, and those women have been here for years. What could possibly happen? Haven’t they been subdued long ago? You’ve probably had a hallucination." Another person dismissively replied.
"Have you forgotten how good my hearing is? I’m sure I didn’t mishear. Besides, my eyelid has been twitching since the morning. I have a feeling something big is going to happen today. I have to go home and check. I won’t be at ease unless I do."
Dog Egg quickly informed his companion and dashed toward his house.
"Really, what is there to worry about? Always so superstitious," the man watched Dog Egg’s retreating back, spat on the ground, and turned back into the crowd to see how beautiful today’s merchandise was.
Dog Egg ran all the way home, feeling increasingly anxious as he approached. Once home, he checked inside and out, finding nothing amiss, and finally wiped the sweat from his forehead, feeling relieved. "I guess I really was overthinking."
Dog Egg disregarded the lingering anxiety, and as he stepped into the middle of the courtyard, he heard a slight noise from next door. He stopped, "Weren’t the neighbors at the auction?" He scratched his chin. He intended to leave, but his curiosity got the better of him. He fetched a ladder from his yard, placed it against the wall, and climbed up to look into the neighbor’s yard.
He was startled to see two unfamiliar men in the yard, one of whom was carrying the neighbor’s wife from a few years back on his back.
Dog Egg’s eyes widened in shock, not expecting such a heinous act next door. His expression turned grim, filled with anger and hostility.
Just as Dog Egg was about to shout, a precise chop landed on his neck, silencing him before he could utter a word.
The commotion finally alerted the two busy rescuers, who quickly turned and pointed their guns, only to relax when they recognized their partner. "Why are you here?"
"I saw someone outside spying on you and feared they’d shout, so I came over. How could you be so careless?" The partner criticized, looking at them in disappointment.
"It’s been a long time since my last mission, and I’ve gotten lax. I’ll train myself harder when we return. Thanks for earlier; I’ll treat you to a meal."
"Enough, just get moving."
Time was pressing, so the trio said only a few words before separating to continue searching for the remaining victims and escorting them away.
In the dormitory outside the village, more and more women were being brought in, some looking like they were about to give birth.
With time passing, fewer women were brought in, until all the soldiers returned. By then, no women were imprisoned in the village aside from those just brought in.
"Get ready. We’ll act when the villagers disperse home. Outbound team, find a concealed spot to make your move, giving the inner circle brothers some lead time," Ke Pengcheng instructed over the walkie-talkie.
The eight girls in the village were quickly divided, with the prettiest and most expensive one being taken home by the man Xu Ke had bribed, drawing envious glances all around as he carried her home.
He couldn’t stop smiling along the way, imagining how he would enjoy the woman today and how many sons she would bear him in the future.
Just as the man happily returned home, a tranquilizer dart silently struck his body. The searing pain made him stop and look at his shoulder, where he saw a policeman in uniform standing in his yard.
He wanted to say something, but the tranquilizer took effect swiftly. Within seconds, he was completely paralyzed, closing his eyes and falling into a deep sleep. The police narrowly caught the woman in his arms before she hit the ground, preventing another fall.
The woman remained unconscious and unaware, similar occurrences happening elsewhere. This operation was no challenge for the seasoned SWAT and retired soldiers. Meanwhile, outside the village, Sister Feng and Gangzi were cheerfully counting new earnings of several tens of thousands in their car, their eyes smiling.
"Just these few people earned us nearly a hundred thousand. A few more deals and we can buy a house in the city next week. Then we’ll wash our hands of this and have two kids," Sister Feng said happily.
"Anything you say," Gangzi replied with a smile.
"Why are we stopping?" Sister Feng, engrossed in counting the money, was startled by the sudden stop, almost hitting the windshield.
"There’s a roadblock ahead out of nowhere." Gangzi scowled, a sudden anxiety rising within him.
"Could the villagers be double-crossing us, wanting both the people and the money? If that’s the case, I’ll never send another girl here, and they’ll be bachelors forever, never touching another woman," Sister Feng, infuriated, got out of the car despite Gangzi’s objections, slamming the door and shouting with her hands on her hips.
"Who the hell blocked this road so thoughtlessly? If you’re so brave, come out from hiding. Don’t you fear your mother laughing at you? If you have the courage, don’t hide from me. Let’s see how I’ll deal with you. I’m Sister Feng, a well-known figure on this path, and you won’t scare me!"
"Is that so?" A SWAT officer stepped out from the roadside, gun in hand, looking at Sister Feng with a mocking expression, "I’m eager to see the legendary Sister Feng’s style myself."
