âDo I know?â
Ashe scratched his head and asked, âIf I choose âI donât know,â does that count as a correct answer?â
âOf course it counts,â the Observer laughed. âWho said âI donât knowâ canât be an answer?â
Before you appeared, âI donât knowâ certainly wasnât considered an answer.
But since your arrival, even if a feature like âeliminate one wrong answerâ appeared in the cabin, I wouldnât be surprised.
The Empress muttered under her breath, thinking how could she possibly get along with this unclear internal threat, how could a memory quiz go well?
Once Ashe heard that âI donât knowâ could be officially accepted, he felt relieved, thinking there was no other clue to pick but âI donât know.â
It was quite justifiable, after all, he genuinely didnât know.
However, compared to the mundane âI donât know,â the other two extraordinary options were like a calf flying to the sky. Ashe felt like his past self could have obliterated the great path.
The second option: collect wishes, overturn the world!
The former was a path of chaos and evil, the latter a path of order and goodness. Regardless of the choice, both implied Ashe had meddled with the vulnerable world, making one lament the worldâs misfortunes.
Even Danzel stopped paying attention to Deya, shocked by the information revealed by Asheâs question, âKnight⦠have you⦠been reborn?â
âAsking me is useless, Iâve lost my memory,â Ashe shrugged. âIf memory loss counts as rebirth, am I on my third life now?â
Sonya silently moved next to Ashe, tightly grasping his arm, and said in a sweet tone, âDear Knightââ
Ashe shuddered with goosebumps, âBack off, what are you doing!â
âArenât we lovers?â Sonya tilted her head coquettishly, âWeâve lost our memory, we need to rekindle our affection, right~â
âDidnât you just say we should break up?â
âThatâs just a little flirtation between lovers, how can life be lively without some quibbling?â
âDidnât you say I cheated?â
âThe truth has come out, the paramour is your sisterâs paramour, not yours, so youâre still my faithful lover.â
âDidnât you say I was probably not a good person and you were ready to turn from darkness to light?â
âFunny, I just happen to like bad boys!â
Ashe saw right through her: âYou only approached me because you thought I might be someone important!â
Sonya raised her eyebrows, âSo, you donât want to get back together?â
âHmph!â
âSpeaking of which, we still have the âLife Linkâ blessing between us. Since weâre not in love anymore, I might as well trigger it later to completely cut ties without any lingering attachmentsâ¦â
âSpeaking of which,â Ashe suddenly said, âwhy do you think we fell in love?â
âHmm?â Sonya blinked, unsure of Asheâs intentions but sensing a hint of a playboy vibe.
âI think it must have been Unique Love, dazzled by your beauty.â Ashe sincerely took Sonyaâs hand, âThanks to this fortunate amnesia. Miss, nice to meet you, can we start over?â
âYouâre clearly just afraid of being dragged down with me.â Sonya snorted, but couldnât help but laugh, âYouâre not guessing that we were a couple in love for many years entering a period of laziness, and you even think you might cheat and find a paramour? Since we have amnesia, why not just take this opportunity to end this entanglementââ
âWhy end it? Come on, letâs get back together and retrace our steps to torment each other.â
Ashe spoke with deep emotion, as if they truly were a long-term couple whose on-and-off relationship would fit perfectly in a romantic drama series.
Just as Ashe and Sonya were expertly sparring with words, a cough suddenly came from nearby.
âYou two seem like you could talk for a very long time.â the Observer said, âHow about we start with the quiz first?â
âAh!?â The Witch privately messaged, annoyed, âWhy interrupt them? I love watching their banter. Iâm really curious what their expressions will be like once they regain their memories⦠Observer, youâre supposed to be the Observer, surely you donât find this scene awkward?â
âHow could I? Even if they were to physically entangle and blend seamlessly right here, Iâd only complain about the lack of snacks and drinks to liven things up, how could it possibly be awkward?â the Observer replied, âHowever, Iâm not feeling awkward, but the person next to you is already awkwardly gripping his sword hilt.â
The Witch glanced at the Swordswoman, who was looking down, her expression hidden from view. All that was visible was her right hand caressing the ruby hilt of her sword, as if she were petting the head of a dog awaiting decapitation.
Asheâs gaze shifted to the two seemingly omnipotent choices.
âThe Destroyer who sacrifices the world, the Savior who reverses causalityâ¦â Ashe mused, âThese options introduce two critical prerequisites: the Four Pillars and the Sorcerer Handbook. However, neither has been mentioned in the previous questions.â
âThis means these options cannot be judged based on the information we have; we must guess based on my personality.â
âIsnât that simple?â Sonya asked, âDo you see yourself more as a Destroyer or a Savior?â
Her question turned all eyes in the cabinâincluding Danzel, the Swordswoman, and the Witchâtoward Ashe. In that moment, he became the center of attention, as if his answer would tip the scales in everyoneâs minds.
Oblivious, Ashe looked down in contemplation, then clapped his hands loudly.
With the clap, the dust settled.
âI donât know.â
âYou donât know?â Sonya was taken aback, âBut isnât it easy to guess? Just see whether youâre more inclined to save people or to kill them.â
âWhat about you?â Ashe countered, âIf it were you, do you see yourself as a Savior who would spend a thousand years for a glimmer of hope, or as a Destroyer willing to sacrifice millions of lives?â
âItâs not me being askedââ
âAccording to your logic, if you lean towards good, then youâre a Savior; if you lean towards evil, then youâre a Destroyer, isnât that easy to guess?â
Using my own words against me⦠Sonya wanted to retort strongly, but the words choked in her throat, as if whatever she was about to say could become a time bomb that would ensnare her.
A thousand years⦠Although she didnât know how long she had lived, a millennium certainly sounded like a long time.
Millions of lives⦠Even though she didnât know if she had ever killed anyone, the number âmillionsâ was undeniably frightening.
Seeing Sonyaâs hesitation, Ashe turned to Danzel and asked, âWhat about you?â
âDestroyer,â Danzel answered without hesitation. âI donât like wasting time.â
âYou see,â Ashe spread his hands, âpersonality dictates memory, and memory affects personality. If I truly had done either of these things, then I would possess the character to make such decisions. Whether itâs a thousand years or bearing the sins of millions of lives, these would be deeply engraved in my soul, warping my cognition and shaping my thoughts.â
âMore importantly,â Ashe looked towards the Observer, âI am well aware that even if I regain my memories, I might not possess the resolve to make such decisions.â
âI donât smell the stench of mountains of corpses and seas of blood on myself, nor the rich aroma from enduring great hardships.â
The Witch interjected, âSwordswoman, can you smell it? We canât smell anythingââ
âI can,â the Swordswoman replied coldly, glancing at the Witch and then at the back of the Observer. âBut I canât tell whose scent it is.â
