I looked at the hall that was now filled with unconscious Zwergers, "Well... I honestly didnât expect things to turn out like this."
"The fact that there was a horny Zwerger who didnât have a thing for guns taking over the station with a parasite or the fact that we didnât even have to shoot them up?" Amber asked cheekily.
"Both, I guess? I was half sure that we would find this place being occupied by pirates or even the opposing side of the civil war... And I thought this guy wouldnât give up that easily and get the monster to attack us or something."
Yumiko joined my side, "What do we do with them, Mistress?"
I scratched my cheek, "Well... Our only job was to investigate what the problem was and try to restore the station back to working order to begin with... So I donât know if we should administer medical treatment to them? Actually... Do we even need to?"
All of us turned to Mara and she seemed to think for a moment, "If you want my medical advice... I would definitely suggest that they go through a medical checkup just in case that parasite left something in their system. Shall I?"
Amber grinned, "No need to do this for free~ We can just go and get those other Zwergers who are still around and see if they are open to the idea of us... Letâs just say... Offering our medical services for cheap?"
Amber... I fucking love you.
I nodded, "Letâs do that then. First, we let them know that the problem has been dealt with so they can stop hiding in there. Then I guess we ask them if they want us to also stick around and deal with the aftermath. If they do, then we can stay. If they donât... Then we can just leave and let them handle it."
The girls agreed so we left those Zwergers alone for now and went back to the security room with the three creatures following behind us, all of them still giving me the same hungry look as before.
At least they werenât trying to push me down right now so we ignored them for now.
When we reached the door that led to the security room, we found the corpses of the creatures we killed earlier stacked up neatly beside it.
Renata immediately pointed at them, "Daddy? Can I eat them?"
I paused and turned to Mara, "Do you need them?"
Mara nodded, "Maybe just leave one. She can eat the rest."
"Go ahead then, Renata."
"Yayyyy~ Thank you Daddy!!" Renata giggled before skipping towards the corpses.
She dumped one of the corpses aside before transforming her torso into a giant mouth which she swallowed up the rest of them with.
I was worried that the creatures with us might have a reaction to that but... They didnât even look at Renataâs direction when she did that.
Guess they really donât care huh...
Since I donât want the Zwergers to get the wrong idea, I told Renata to bring the three creatures back to The Verlandi while we went to look for the Zwergers.
Moving past the door, we continued onward until we reached the barricade where several Zwergers were now standing watch over with nervous expressions.
"Youâre... Youâre the Mercs, right? Not those things transformed to look like them?" One of the Zwergers asked.
Amber scoffed, "Please, do you think those things could even attempt to shapeshift into any of us? They arenât good enough!"
I donât even want to comment on her reasoning for that...
I cleared my throat, "Ahem... We managed to deal with the nest and it seems like the rest of your colleagues are fine, just unconscious. Weâre wondering if you guys have a doctor or some kind of medical facility that can take care of them? Otherwise, we could also offer the services of our ship doctor but thatâs going to cost extra for you guys. Donât worry, weâll charge a discounted price."
The older Zwerger appeared from the hole, "Our stationâs doctor was also affected by that creature... Are they all alive?"
"Well... Theyâre just knocked out at the moment and there doesnât seem to be any injuries on them as far as I can see."
"Hmm... Could you accompany us there to take a look at them before we decide?"
"Sure? Though if you donât mind, we took the liberty to claim the corpses of those creatures for ourselves."
He raised an eyebrow at me, "What do you need them for?"
"Pretty sure some people would like to buy them either for research or whatever. Weâd be stupid to pass up on the chance to make more Credits."
"Hmph... Well, youâre the ones that killed them to begin with so theyâre already yours by right. We donât really care."
"Great, in that case, shall we?"
I gestured down the corridor to indicate he should lead the way and he took the lead position before I followed behind him.
The walk there was a little awkward as no one said anything but thankfully the place wasnât that far so we reached there quickly.
The freed Zwergers were still unconscious on the ground where we had left them and the older Zwerger huffed when he went over to start inspecting them.
He tried to shake one awake but aside from some soft groans coming from the unconscious Zwerger, nothing happened.
He dropped him back on the ground and looked around again before turning back to me, "Whereâs Silvio?"
I raised an eyebrow at him, "Who the heck is Silvio?"
"The idiot who got us into this mess in the first place. Remember the recording we saw in the security room? Itâs the one who was standing in front of everyone else."
I pretended to think, "Hmm... I donât believe Iâve seen him though... But we did find some discarded clothes at the back over there."
He turned to see where I was pointing before heading to the room where the larger creature had been before it vacated the station.
On the floor near the corner were indeed the clothes that guy had worn before he stripped himself to indulge in his desires.
If you were wondering... Yes, he left this place completely naked.
He had been in such a rush to leave that he didnât bother putting on his clothes at all and we didnât bother to tell him either.
The older Zwerger nodded when he saw the clothes, "Yeah... This is his work uniform. Did you not see him at all?"
"No, we found a bigger version of the creature just laying here and the nest seemed to originate from it so we exterminated it. And when we did, everything got absorbed back into its corpse," I lied.
"Whereâs the corpse then?"
"I told you, didnât I? Weâre taking the corpses."
"Hmm... I suppose itâs a shame we canât deal with him if the monster had already done him in. Too bad though, we would have so much fun taking out our frustrations on him."
Huh... I see why that guy wanted to run away from here as soon as he could. If he had been left behind, I think they would have strung him up and tortured him.
"Alright then... It looks like theyâre in pretty bad shape so it would help if we can get some help for them. Itâll at least get this place back up to working condition faster."
I turned back to Mara, "Alright then, itâs your show. Give them a fair price? Alright?"
Mara nodded, "Leave it to me, Captain. Iâll make sure theyâre on their feet within the next day."
Thatâs fast... Considering the fact that thereâs at least a hundred of them here... And sheâs just casually saying that she;ll deal with them in a single day.
Well, I trust her so Iâll leave it to Mara to deal with.
Leaving Mara and the Zwerger to discuss the details, I decided to return to the hangar just to check if the guy actually did leave because it would be pretty awkward if he ended up being stuck there or something.
Oh no... They might realise that his ship is also missing... Shit... I better think of an excuse if they ask...
Wait... Why do I need to? I can just say that I donât know and I didnât see him, right? Then itâs up to them to come to their own conclusions on what happened to the guy.
When I got to where my ship was parked though, I found Renata standing in front of my ship with the three creatures accompanying her but it looked like she had just finished eating something.
"Renata? What are you doing outside?" I asked.
She spun around and gave me a big smile, "Daddy! Daddy! That little person from earlier was trying to break into your ship, so I ate both of them!"
...
...
What?!
