1 Introduction
Two wafer-level transceiver devices are described in this device revision guide: the WTR4905
and WTR4605. They are jointly referred to as the WTR4x05 device when the material presented
applies equally to all devices.
Technical information for the WTR4x05 device is primarily covered by the documents listed in
Table 1. Each document is self-contained, but a thorough understanding of the devices and their
applications requires familiarization with all of them. All released WTR4x05 documents are
posted at https://support.cdmatech.com (the CDMATech Support website) and are available for
download.

and/or evaluating phones or terminals that include the WTR4x05 device.

2 Device Identification
The WTR4x05 device can be identified by markings on its top surface and by the contents of an
identification register; these device identification techniques are described in Section 2.1 and
Section 2.2, respectively. Further details about each sample type are presented in Section 2.3
through Section 2.4.

2.3 Sample testing
2.3.1 Engineering samples (ES)
These devices have undergone limited testing and sometimes have significant feature limitations.
They are suitable to assist with printed circuit board (PCB) development, to conduct board-level
electrical evaluation tests, and to explore manufacturing considerations. Engineering samples
must not be used for phone-level qualification.
2.3.2 Commercial samples (CS)
These devices have undergone full production-level testing and meet the specifications and
features described in the device specification, except as otherwise noted in this document. They
have passed device-level qualification. Commercial samples are suitable for use in performance
testing and phone-level production and qualification.
2.4 Compatible software releases
Table 4 identifies the software compatibility of each sample type.

3 Known Issues
3.1 Summary of known issues
All known issues for each revision of the WTR4x05 device are summarized in Table 5. The text
within the Issue column provides links to the sections of this document that explain the issues,
regardless of the sample type (or types) on which they occur. An X in any other column indicates
that the issue occurs on the corresponding sample type.

3.2 Issues – description, impact, and workaround
Issue 1 Low ESD HBM rating
Description GNSS_IN pin has an ESD HBM rating of 500 V.
Impact If an ESD event occurs, it may cause a GNSS receiver failure. Handle ES devices
with care. All other pins have a 2-kV HBM rating.
Workaround This issue will be fixed with CS hardware. With ES2 and CS devices, expect a
slight change in GNSS LNA matching component values, but with the same
topology. See WTR4905-series reference schematics (80-NL713-4x) for details.

Issue 2 Low ESD CDM rating
Description PRX_HB1 and DRX_HB1 pins have a 450-V CDM ESD rating.
Impact If an ESD event occurs, it may damage the primary or diversity HB1 Rx circuit.
Handle devices with care. All other pins have a 500-V CDM rating.
Workaround There is no plan to fix this issue in the CS device hardware. CS devices will
continue to carry a 450-V CDM ESD rating. These two pins are not used (DNC) on
the WTR4605 device.
