When Spring Comes
Transgression has many roots. In the
seven psychoanalytic case histories

for power are the dominant themes. One

demands and desires which his patients
had been driven to act out compulsively
in their everyday lives.

Khan's achievement, both as a writer and
in his psychoanalytic practice. In contrast
to the traditional orthodoxy of Freudian
analysis, which favours a neutral stance
on the part of the analyst, his style of
working is avowedly personal (albeit that
his debt to others is amply acknowledged).
The result is a series of dramatic human
encounters in which the pains and
passions of the patient, and the exacting
but fulfilling role of the analyst, are
brilJiantly portrayed.
