►According to Statistics Canada, only 6% of sexual assaults are
reported to the police. 63% of all sexual assaults reported to the
police involve girls under the age of 18.
•10-12% of those involved in street prostitution are children.
•The oldest illustration of a condom was found in Egypt and
dates back more than 3,000 years.
• N early half of all Canadian youth, aged 15-19, are sexually active.
•Chlamydia (the most common STD in Canada) is more common
among those aged 15-19 (11.2 cases per 1,000 women) than
any other age group. The same is true of gonorrhea.
