Angels
Angel means messenger.
• Angel in Hebrew = Mal-ak – messenger or
representative
• Angel in Greek = Aggelos – messenger

Angels were CREATED by God
Colossians 1:16
• 1:16 For by him all things were created:
things in heaven and on earth, visible and
invisible, whether thrones or powers or
rulers or authorities; all things were created
by him and for him. (Angels were created)

Job 38:7
• “Where were you when I laid the earth’s
foundation? Tell me, if you understand. 5 Who
marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it? 6 On
what were its footings set, or who laid its
cornerstone—7 while the morning stars sang
together and all the angels[a] shouted for joy?”

• They are ministering spirits: (Hebrews 1:7; 1:14)
• Guide us (Gen 19:15-17)
• Encourage us (Judges 6:12)
• Deliver us (Acts 12:7)
• Empower us (Luke 22:43)
• Protect us (Psalms 91:11-12)

• They are not limited to material bodies (Heb 1:14)
• Can only be in one place at a time (Daniel 9:21-23)
• They can appear in the form of men and are always
referred to in the masculine (Matt 1:20, Rev 19:9-
10)

(Hebrews 2:6-7)
• They are a company, not a race, in that that they do
not get married and have kids (Luke 20:34, Mark
12:25)
• They are innumerable (Hebrews 12:22, Rev 5:11)

• One “archangel,” Michael, is named (Jude 9)
• Chief Princes (Daniel 10:13)

• They are moral beings created with the ability
to know and do right or wrong. Some have
been punished and they will be judged.
