WHY PREMIUM WIRE IS CRITICAL...
Hotter running engines, crowded engine compartments
and higher voltage output make premium wire sets a
key component of any ignition system.
The primary cause of ignition wire failure is prolonged
exposure to HEAT. The termination at the spark plug end
is most susceptible to these high temperatures. When
the extreme heat from the spark plug transfers to the
wire, the core is exposed to temperatures that can char,
melt away and cause core burnout; the number one
cause of ignition wire failure.
Domestic O.E. manufacturers use an extruded silicone
core to solve this problem and so does Standard. The
latex fiberglass core used by most other aftermarket
companies simply won't last.

Proper fit is a high priority for premium quality ignition wires.
“Proper fit” means the fit of the replacement wire set closely
follows the fit of the original wires, in length, as well as termi-
nal and boot configuration (straight, 135°or 90°). The closer

This is important because:
• The OE routing pattern minimizes “crossfire” (the tendency

In computerized vehicles, an improperly routed plug wire can
induce voltage in sensor leads, which are designed to carry
less than 1 volt. The induced voltage can generate incorrect
sensor signals, or even short out a sensor or damage the
computer itself.
• Proper fit ensures that you won’t have to stretch wires or

Universal Wire Sets
3000 SERIES UNIVERSAL WIRE SETS
3000 SERIES Conductive Silicone or Metallic Core
Wires in each 3000-series set have one end fitted with a bendable terminal and a
flexible silicone boot that can serve for straight, 90º and 135º applications.
Wires are extra long and are un-terminated at the distributor end. Each wire set
includes two full sets of distributor boots: one straight and one for 90º distributor
ends. Both ends of the coil wire are un-terminated, with all parts supplied for 3851
either straight or 90º termination at either end.
UNIVERSAL WIRES
Metallic Core wires are non-static suppressing. These 3000 Series universal wire sets are 7mm & 8mm silicone and designed
specifically for off-road and racing use.

Each wire is factory terminated at the plug end only. Each wire is factory terminated at the spark plug
Distributor terminals and boots are furnished. Special end; user cuts and terminates the distributor end
“TWIN TERMER” sets (Part Nos. 8613 and 8840) with parts supplied. Fabricated from metallic core
come with straight plug boots at one end and 90º wire having a special rubber compound insulation
boots at the other end. Remove unwanted end and with a black outer jacket. Features tightly fitted,
trim to size; then assemble distributor terminal and molded spark plug boots for a waterproof, oil-
boot to cut end. proof and flash-proof connection.
