AvoidViolationsoftheLaw Itisillegaltoshootanygamebirdon,from,oracrossanypublic
highway,ortheshoulder,berm,orborrow-pit,orright-of-wayofanypublichighway,and/ormo-
tordrivenconveyance.

CheckingStations AllSportsmenarerequiredtostopasdirectedatalldesignatedchecksta-
tionsontheirwaytoandfromhuntingandfishingareas,eveniftheyhavenogameorfishtobe
checked.

HunterEducation Both residentand nonresidentyouths 12-17years ofage mustprovide a
CertificateofCompetencyinthesafehandlingoffirearmsbeforetheymaypurchaseahunting
license.Archeryhunters12-17yearsofagearerequired, inadditiontofirearmsafetycertifica-
tion,toprovideaCertificateofCompetencyinthesafehandlingofbowhuntingtacklefromthe
NationalBowhunterEducationProgram.

MeansofTaking Migratorybirdsmaybetakenonlywithlongbowandarroworshotgunnot
largerthantengaugeincapableofholding morethanthreeshellsfiredfromtheshoulder. May
notbetakenfromorbymeans,oraidof,oruseofasinkbox,aircraft, motorvehicle,ormotor-
drivenconveyanceofanykind,exceptamotorboatwhenthemotorhas been shutoffandthe
boathasstopped. Useofanyelectronicorphonographicwaterfowl-callingdeviceisillegal, as
arelivedecoys.

Possession ofLiveBirds Wounded birdsreducedto possession shall be immediatelykilled
andincludedinthedailybaglimit.
—
Restrictions Nopersonshalltakemigratorybirdsbydriving,rallying,orchasingbirdswithany
motorizedconveyanceoranysail boattoputthem inrangeofthehunter; bytheaidofbaiting
(placingfeedsuchascorn,wheat,salt,orotherfeedtoconstitutealureorenticement). Hunters
shouldbeawarethatabaitedareaisconsideredtobebaited10daysaftertheremovalofthebait,
anditisno—tnecessaryfothehuntertoknowanareaisbaitedtobeinviolation.
Shipment No person shall ship migratorygame birds unlessthe package is marked on the
outsidewith:(a)thenameandaddressofthepersonsendingthebirds,(b)thenameandaddress
ofthepersontowhomthebirdsarebeingsent,and(c)thenumberofbirds,byspecies,contained
inthepackage.
