proposed developments so as to enable me to estimate the costs of the proposed developments.

ABSTRACT
KNH has increasingly been experiencing challenges on transportation and parking which have
been gradually deepens its roots. These have been caused by a number of factors which includes
the lack of proper planning for internal circulations channels like roads, foots paths to meet the
ever increasing population in the area and the demand for parking to meet the ever increasing
vehicles in the area.
The project develops an ideal situation for internal hospital roads (Mbagathi road is selected),
foot paths and parking in the areas to ensure time saving and sustainable movement and parking
in the area.
A serious concentration and concern is on incorporating the road components to ensure that they
are effectively functional and placed in their positions in a well-planned roads and also
concerned with fully solving the parking challenges in the area by erecting a multi- capacity
parking silo which ensures easy parking, improved security for the parked vehicles, adequate
parking capacities thus provide a long term parking comfortable and sustainable in the area
The objectives that are aimed to be achieved by this development project include;
1. To improve the conditions of the existing situations of the transportation path-ways( roads
and other walk ways) in the KNH area to improve the quality the circulations within KNH
area
2. To design a new other parking space to achieve the required parking capacities thus solve the
issue of on-street parking in the area
3. To provide other facilities like good drainage system, good street lighting system and
beautification where necessary
The design process for this development comprises of series of steps starting from problem
identification, detailed situational analysis, formulation of alternative plans, evaluation of
alternatives to arrive at the most preferred alternative, a detailed framework guiding the projects
for implementation, monitoring and evaluation is also provided.
