7. TRAVEL/ TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
Competing Swimming teams are requested to arrive in Adelaide no later than Saturday, 2 December.

Public transport

Public transport is the preferred option of transport during the Games and highly recommended for students
and officials when travelling to and from competition venues and accommodation.

All Pacific School Games competitors, officials and supporters who are accredited will have free use of the
Adelaide Metro public transport system during the Games. This service allows them to access the entire public
transport system in Adelaide, including train, tram and bus services. Accompanied children under five years of
age travel free at all times.

For those supporters/ parents who do not purchase a Supporter Pass, they will have to purchase individual
metrotickets each time they use public transport or purchase a reusable metrocard which can be recharged.
You cannot purchase a metrocard onboard, however singletrip and daytrip metrotickets can be purchased on a
bus from a driver or from a ticket machine onboard your train or tram. You can recharge your metrocard
onboard your train or tram using a ticket machine. You can buy metrocards from metrocard agents or an
InfoCentre. To find a metrocard location, click here.

Parking/driving transport

Limited parking will be available onsite at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre. Teams travelling together (group
transport etc) may use specified drop off and pick up points at the venue with parking for large vehicles
facilitated offsite. Teams are recommended to access the facility via train as there is a stop at the Oaklands
Park train station only a few minutes walk away.

Overflow parking is not available at Westfield Marion – please do not park there. Nearby streets offer
additional parking spaces for vehicles (group transport excluded) however parking restrictions apply in some
areas.

A detailed Traffic Management Plan will be provided by 30 September 2017.

Airport Transfers

Pacific School Games will be offering transfers to and from the Adelaide Airport and team accommodation on
arrival and departure for free. PSG will also make arrangements for luggage to be transported to and from the
airport to accommodation. All competing teams are required to fill out the Host Arrangement form from the
PSG website. The form should be completed and submitted to Penny Gordon at
[email protected] no later than Thursday, 31 August.

8. TEAM LEVY

The Pacific School Games Levy is $500 inc GST per student.

9. EDUCATIONAL EXCURSION
Swimming students will be attending their Educational Excursion on Wednesday, 6 December.

Following feedback from PSG 2015 Adelaide the Education Excursions in 2017 will have two components. One
will be a session at the University of Adelaide which will provide fun, informative, interactive sessions. Details
on these sessions will be provided soon.
As well as the University component teams will visit a selected sport to learn about that sport, hear from high
achievers in the sport and support their state team.
All Team Managers will be asked to select their preferred sport for the Education day via a form downloadable
from the PSG website. All preferences to be provided by Friday, 15 September.
Teams will be responsible for their own transport to and from the Educational Excursion and must arrive in time
for their excursion. Some assistance with transport may be provided depending on the chosen sport. Details to
be provided closer to the Games. Teams will be advised of their Education excursion by Monday, 30 September.

There is no additional cost for the educational excursion.

10. REGISTRATION
The registration process has been simplified for the 2017 Pacific School Games. Details below.
10.1 Team Registration:

All Member bodies need to advise Edward Buffon no later than Friday, 30 June all teams they will be
nominating for 2017 PSG Adelaide.

10.2 Individual Athlete Registrations

All domestic entries for the swimming component of the Pacific School Games will be via Team Manager.
Entries must be completed using the TM Entry File distributed to domestic teams and be submitted to
[email protected] by Friday 29 September 2017.

All international entries for the swimming component of the Pacific School Games will be either by Team
Manager or purpose-built Excel Spreadsheet. International teams will receive both files once a deposit has
been paid and must return either to [email protected] by Friday 29 September 2017.

This spreadsheet must be returned to Edward Buffon (PSG Registration and Pass Coordinator –
[email protected]) ASAP - by Friday 29 September 2017 at the latest.
Where there is a change to a team member on the submitted sheet full details of the new team member
should be submitted to Edward Buffon as soon as it is confirmed who is out and who is replacing them.

10.3 Team Managers and Officials

Each member body is required to complete the PSG Hosting Arrangement form and return it to Penny Gordon

Thursday, 31 August.

The collection of Accreditation Passes will be slightly different to the 2015 PSG Adelaide. Due to ongoing
construction maintenance at the Adelaide Airport we have been allocated a smaller space for the
Accreditation Centre. Therefore, students will not be required to collect their Accreditation Pass instead a
team official will be required to collect all team members passes on arrival in Adelaide. They will be in a single
package for each team with all the passes in them ready for the Team Manager to distribute.

For security purposes, all adult officials will be required to register via an online portal so they can include a
photo ID on their Supporter Pass. Team officials will receive an email providing the link to the registration
portal once SSA Office are advised of their appointment to a team via the standard SSA Hosting Arrangement
form. They will need to fill in some simple information and upload a photo. The link is:

11. TEAM OFFICIAL’S DINNER
Due to the large number of officials attending the Pacific School Games, two Team Official’s Dinners have been
organised over two separate nights (Monday, 4 December and Wednesday, 6 December). Swimming will be
attending on the Wednesday evening.

Each delegation will have the opportunity for officials to attend at a ratio of one official per 10 athletes in
attendance at the Games. There will be no charge for the team official’s dinner based on this formula. If you
have team officials in excess of this formula, there will be an additional cost. The PSG Hosting Arrangement
form will include registration for attendance of officials at the Sports Dinners. Additional places cannot be
guaranteed due to venue capacity. A separate PSG Hosting arrangement form must be completed for each
sport.

Please note that Service Awards for each sport will be presented as part of the Closing Ceremony at each
sport, not at the Dinners.

The dinner on Monday, 4 December will be for the following sports:
• Basketball, Diving, Football, Goalball, Touch Football and Track & Field
The dinner on Wednesday, 6 December will be for the following sports:
• Softball, Hockey, Netball, Swimming and Golf.

12. TRAINING

Pre-Meet Training for domestic and international teams will be available December 2 – 3 2017 at the SAALC.
Each team will be allocated a time based on their arrival into Adelaide.
13. MEETINGS
The Pre-Games Meeting will be held at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre (Marshaling Rom) on Saturday, 2
December at 5pm. The Post-Games Meeting will be on Friday, 8 December at the conclusion of the heats
session – time TBA closer to the event.

Any delegations or large teams wishing to hold a meeting may hire a lecture theatre of up to 400 seat capacity
at no cost. The theatre is based near the Games Village. A booking sheet is available for download from the PSG
website. Booking sheets should be submitted no later than Tuesday 31 October. Bookings will be accepted on a
first in basis.

14. CEREMONIES
The Opening Ceremony will be held on Sunday, 3 December at approximately 5.00pm. Team representatives
will be asked to assemble no later than 3.30pm. More details will be sent out closer to the event.

The Swimming Closing Ceremony will be held at the conclusion of competition on Saturday, 9 December 2017
at the SAALC.

15. PHOTOGRAPHS
A team photo service will be available during the Games. This is an additional cost and teams will be invoiced
separately by the PSG photographer. Details on organising a team photo will be provided at a date closer to
the Games.

Action photographs will be taken throughout the Championships. These will be available for purchase online.

16. FIRST AID
First Aid personnel will be in attendance throughout the Games at the SAALC.

17. SPORTS MEDICINE & MEDICAL

Team managers will be provided with a list of nearby medical services and the list will also be available on the
PSG website.

Students should provide their own strapping tape and teams should provide a first aid kit and students should
know who the nominated first aid person is from their State/ Territory or Country.

Please ensure that your team management understands your relevant State or Territory ambulance policy as it
may not apply when visiting South Australia.

18. STUDENT OFFICIALS

Member bodies are requested to advise the type and number of student officials for Swimming by Monday, 17
July. The form can be downloaded from the PSG website. Full details of student umpires to be provided by
Friday, 29 September. They need to register via the portal detailed below.

Note: uniforms will have been ordered by Monday, 31 July, therefore we cannot guarantee sizing if student
umpire details are not confirmed by this date. Student umpires will be provided with an official PSG shirt. To
enable student officials to obtain a Photo ID Accreditation pass they will end to register via this link:

20. VOLUNTEERS

We have opened up for expressions of interest from people who would like to volunteer at the Pacific School

21. TECHNICAL OFFICIALS

All Technical Officials will need to register through the Volunteer registration system. The link is

22. MULTI-CLASS SWIMMERS

Every multi-class swimmer who is competing must have a current classification – Click Here for the current
Classification Master List

A face to face classification opportunity will be offered for swimmers attending the Pacific School Games in
December 2017.
Any swimmer is eligible for a classification appointment if they are either:
• Not classified at all,
• Holds a preliminary classification or
• Is up for classification review in either 2017 or 2018

For those swimmers who are not classified at all it is recommended that they undertake a provisional
classification before PSG. Your state swimming association can help you with this.
Depending upon numbers of registrations classification will be held on both Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd
December 2017.

Registrations are essential to guarantee your classification appointment.

- on Meet Mobile (free app - download from the App Store or Google Play)

- on the Pacific School Games App (download from the App Store or Google Play from Friday June 30)

All spectators, officials and students must also abide by the Codes of Behaviour at their relevant venue. These
will be published on the 2017 PSG Adelaide website prior to the Games.

27. SUPPORTER PASS

Pacific School Games is offering Supporters the opportunity to purchase a Pacific School Games Supporter Pass
for the Games. Purchasing this Pass will not only save money, it will also increase the ease of access to the
Games and to all that Adelaide has to offer. It will be used to access all competition venues, ceremonies,
Adelaide’s public transport systems and special partner deals and discounts during the Games. Online
registration for Supporters will open by Monday, 22 May 2017.

• Unlimited entry to all sports for the duration of the Games (normally $15 per day, per sport)
• Access to the Opening Ceremony (normally $25)
• Unlimited access to the Adelaide Metro Transport system – Savings of up to $9.70 per day!

28. PROGRAM

A program for parents and spectators will be available online through the Pacific School Games website and
Games App shortly before the start of the Games. A printed program specific to Swimming will also be available
at the venue.

29. GAMES VILLAGE

The Games Village in 2017 will be based at the University of Adelaide. The Village will have entertainment
from 5.00pm to 9.00pm each evening from Monday, 4 December to Friday, 8 December inclusive. The Games
Cauldron will be lit from a flame at the opening ceremony with the flame taken to the Games Village in a torch
relay. The cauldron will stay alight at the Village throughout the Games. The on-stage entertainment will
include an opportunity for sporting students to go on stage as PSG Talent contestants. There will be on stage
entertainment as well as PSG Talent and a range of interactive displays. Details on PSG Talent registration
timing and process will be provided by Friday, 28 July.

Teams may pre-purchase vouchers for meals at the Village where there will be a range of dining options
redeemable through the voucher. A booking sheet for teams to register their interest in Dinner and time are
available on the PSG website and needs to be submitted by Friday, 28 July. Final numbers to be advised by
Monday, 30 October.

30. CANTEEN FACILITIES

Canteen Facilities will be operating at the SAALC throughout the Games.

A morning and afternoon snack and refreshments for all volunteers and technical officials will be provided by
separate arrangement, prior to the commencement of each session. Team lunches are the teams’
responsibility. SSA is coordinating a service at each venue where teams can pre-order good value lunches for
each day of competition. Full details on menu and costs will be provided by Friday, 29 September with meals
to be ordered by Monday, 30 October

31. PACIFIC SCHOOL GAMES MERCHANDISE

Pacific School Games merchandise will be available for purchase at the SAALC during the Games, as well as at
the Games Village and online through the Pacific School Games website.
