Starting in 6.3, x-pack will be included in the default distribution with a basic
license which gives you access to all free commercial features

There are a few ways to surface a read only version of dashboards. The first, is to
click the share button and embed your dashboard in an iFrame. You can extract
that URL as well to share simply without any additional visibility into Kibana. We
also offer a dashboard only mode that provide a view in Kibana that only shows
dashboards in a read only

may have used the snapshot link. There currently is no way to provide the
timepicker for an embedded dashboard but you can control this experience a bit
with markdown links for specific time ranges

environment (dashboard/visualization/etc), in another words, user would not share
their environment with other users. (sort of kibana index, but per user not per
kibana instance)

We are addressing in a few ways. Multi-tenancy is the first phase, so be able to
segment your dashboards and visualizations into multiple tenants / spaces. Follow
up by object level security, which will allow you to keep your dashboards privately
and define who can see them with the appropriate access

@mysery the only way to secure an embedded dashboard is through x-pack
security either native or custom realms. If you'd like to skip login, you can always
use use the 'run as` header.

consolidate them. One interesting new library we are using that is marked as
experimental is vega. This is trivial but is a good replacement for custom
visualizations in Kibana. You can use vega rather than writing a plugin

the URL provided in the iFrame doesn't necessarily need to be utilized as an
iFrame either. if you extract the URL from that code snipped you're provided with a
read only view of the dashboard without the Kibana Chrome. Feel free to open a
new tab and paste that URL in it

Probably you are right. without x-pack whoever has the url can access it.
However, my company is not ready to invest a whole lot in it yet. So by using the
iFrame you said, at least user cannot modify and see the data they are not
supposed to see.
