• не можна вживати stand up • не можна вживати get up
У конструкції from + «Місце для сидіння» також вживається
get up: Не got up from the sofa straightaway. Stand up вживається
у реченнях типу: The class stood up as the director came in.

The nearest shops to my house are over a mile away, so it’s either
a question of putting on a comfortable pair of shoes and walking half
an hour to the shopping centre, or taking the easy wav out and using
the car. In time, of course, you get very lazy and fill your freezer and
pantry with convenience foods. I do draw the line at TV dinners, however.
It may be convenient to sit back in a comfortable armchair eating a meal
which took you three minutes to heat up in the microwave, but I must
admit even my dog turned his nose up at the lasagna I offered to share
with him during «Dallas» the other evening.

It takes the average commuter up to two hours to get home in the evening
rush-hour. At times the traffic almost comes to a standstill. What we need
is a more efficient public transport system, or we should introduce more
flexible working hours so that everyone isn’t travelling to and from work
at the same time. I can’t understand why it’s taking the politicians so long
to find a solution to the problem of our congested roads. Perhaps they need
a nine-to-five job to see how the other people live.
