Wide overlaps in morphological characters among species in mound building
woodantsoftheFormicarufa-grouphavebeenalong-standingproblem.Pre-
viousstudiessuggestthatFormicapolyctenasamplesfromFinlandmayrepre-
senttwodifferenttypesbasedonqueenmorphology.However,workercastehas
notbeenstudiedcompletely.Ifoundthathairinessofworkersfromdifferentcol-
onieswasbimodallydistributed.Morphs(basedonbimodality)differedinthe
abundanceoferecthairsoneightoutof11studiedbodyparts.Thehairiermorph
mayberesultofincompletereproductiveisolationbetweencloselyrelatedspe-

2.3.Statisticalanalyses

4.Discussion
