ThecompletionofthisplancomesatanopportunetimeastheMartin VanBuren
National HistoricSiteisundergoingits firstGeneral ManagementPlan.The
GeneralManagementPlanwillusethebestinformationavailableincurrent
scholarshiptodevelopseveralalternative visionsforthe future ofthesite.The
Olmsted CenterforLandscapePreservationhasalreadycontributedtwoCultural
LandscapeReportsandaCulturalLandscapeTreatmentPlanforthehistoric
core,keydocumentsuponwhichtheNPS hasreliedformanagingVan Buren's
Lindenwald.Thisfascinatingreportwillcertainlybeanimportantpartofany
discussionregardingthe Lindenwald cultural landscape.
Iwouldliketo conveythe park'sgratitudetotheOlmsted CenterforLandscape
Preservation,inparticularCharliePepperandMatthewQuirey,forbuilding
