hat is color? As children we learn to associate color with everyday
life - the sky is blue; the grass is green. Yet, in trying to answer this
seemingly simple question, one may wonder and begin to consider the
vast array of connotations associated with the word color. Looking out
the window, there is a world engulfed in brilliant hues. To appreciate the
vivid color of today, one must have a deeper sense of admiration for the
past. Think of a prism: the beautiful surprise contained within cannot be
unveiled without light. As one appreciates today, he or she must realize
that the foundation of today is comprised of yesterday and the day before.
Like contrasting colors shining through a prism, the history of Mississippi
College radiates through us in daily endeavors. Each of us is diverse.
With the impact of the past, we impact our future with the substructure
laid for us years before. Mississippi College is its own wheel of color -
complimentary, contrasting, and diverse; yet together, as one, a brilliant
spectrum is laid out for others to see - past, present, and future.

Mississippi College is a university known for many things. A strong,
spirtual environment and a beautiful campus are just a few of those
things. However, another facet widely known about Mississippi
College is its rich history. Mississippi College was the first college
to grant a degree to a woman, let alone be the first university in
the state. Our campus, in what we know today has undergone
numerous transformations. The school has grown as well as its
history.
