about the authors
Rene D. Zweig, PhD, is director of Union Square cognitive Therapy, a full-time private prac-
tice in new york city. Previously, she directed the Eating disorders and Weight management
Program at the american Institute for cognitive Therapy. She is adjunct clinical Supervisor at
the ferkauf graduate School of Psychology at yeshiva University, and a diplomate of the acad-
emy of cognitive Therapy.
Robert L. Leahy, PhD, is director of the american Institute of cognitive Therapy in new
york city and clinical Professor of Psychology in the department of Psychiatry at Weill cornell
medical college. He is the author or editor of 19 books on cognitive therapy and psychological
processes, including the professional books Cognitive Therapy Techniques and Overcoming Resis-
tance in Cognitive Therapy, and the popular books The Worry Cure and Beat the Blues
They Beat You. dr. leahy is Past President of the association for Behavioral and cognitive
Therapies, the International association for cognitive Psychotherapy, and the academy of cog-
nitive Therapy. He is a recipient of the aaron T. Beck award for Sustained and Enduring con-
tributions to cognitive Therapy. He has given workshops worldwide and has appeared frequently
in the popular media.
