Nineteen hundred eighty-three marked a significant parallel between the Church of the Nazarene in general and the
Alabama District Church of the Nazarene in particular as both celebrated their Seventy-fifth Anniversary. A special
75th Anniversary book was prepared, which traces the history of Alabama District with pictures of early beginnings
and present day facilities together with the pioneers and present pastors who have played such a significant role in
the establishment and maintenance of the church.
The Alabama District Assembly of 1981 voted to create two districts at the annual assembly of 1983:
Alabama North and Alabama South. The culmination of the division occurred on May 5, 1983 at Cullman
with Dr. Orville W. Jenkins presiding over the North and Dr. Charles H. Strickland presiding over the South.

Committee

The District Finance Committee shall be composed of 30 members; one-half to
be lay- persons and one-half ministerial. These shall be appointed by the District
Advisory Board. These shall include as ex officio: District Superintendent, District
Secretary, District Treasurer, District department heads, District Advisory Board,
District Church Planting Coordinator, and the Chairman of the Finance Committee.
