Author Details
Dr Kate Cregan is an Australian Research Council postdoctoral research
fellow in the Globalism Institute, RMIT University. She has also been an
Honorary Research Associate of the Department of Politics, Monash
University during the writing of this book.
She is currently completing a three-year research project on the social
impact – from the local to the global – of embryonic stem cell technology
at the Globalism Institute. All her research is concerned with social
ethics and embodiment, most particularly in relation to the history and
philosophy of medicine. Her writing ranges from studies of anatomy and
criminality in seventeenth-century London, to the bio-medical trade in
human tissues, to the commemoration of non-combatants killed in vio-
lent conflict. She is particularly interested in the variation in under-
standings of embodiment across time, space and culture.
