Abstract Twonewspeciesofscutacaridmites,Alc/tldispuschuJo1andA tone-
gawanus spp nov aredescribedfromJapanbasedonphoretomorphicfemalesfoundon
thecervicalmembranebetweenheadandprothorax,orintersegmentalmembranebetween
pro-andmesothoraxofcarabidbeetlesmainlybelongingtothetribesPterostichiniand
HarpaIini.
Thirty-sevennamedspeciesofthegenusArchldispushaveso farbeenrecorded
fromJapan.Ailofthemareknowntobephoreticoncarabidbeetlesinabroadsense.
Twomorenewspeciesofthegenusaredescribedinthispaperonthebasesofphoreto-
morphicfemalesfoundonthecervicalmembranebetweenheadandprothorax,or in-
tersegmentalmembranebetweenpro-andmesothoraxof18Japanesecarabidspecies
mainlybelongingtothetribesPterostichiniandHarpalini.
Theterminologyofthebodystructuresandthesetalnotationmostlyfollowthose
ofLINDQUIST(1986).Allmeasurementsaregiveninmicrometers(ｵm). TheRCC3
index(ratiooflength(ordistance)ofanystructuretothemutualdistanceofanterior
coxal condylesIIIX100) (KuRosA,1989) isused for theconvenienceofdescription.
Themeasurementsof leglengthsandmutual distanceofanteriorcoxal condylesIII
usedhereinarethesameasthoseexplainedinthelastpaperofmine(KuRosA,2003).

Thephoretomorphic females were foundexclusively attached to the cervical
membranebetweenheadandprothoraxofthehostbeetles,withtheexceptionoftwo
specimensfromtheintersegmentalmembranebetweenpro-andmesothraxofS. irzd1-
co1or andAno.cyanescens. Thelargestnumber ofmitesper hostwas 11 (on Ano.
cyanescens).
The femalemitesofthenewspecieswere frequently foundincoexistencewith
thoseofoneortwoothercongenericspeciessuchasA.consplcuusKuRosA,A fo(liatus
KURosA,A fuslftormisKURosA,A. insolitus(KURosA),A.1ongicaudatusKURosA,A
masatakai KURosA, A. papluosus KURosA, A. prox;Imus KURosA and A. 1'ost1'atus

Oneoftheparatypespecimenswas foundincoexistencewithfive femalesofA
kur・osaiMAHUNKAetRACKandonefemaleofanundescribedArchidispusspecieson
anindividualof1:)microcephalus,buttheattachingsiteofthelattersixspecimenswas
thecervicalmembrane,unlikeA tonegawanus.

に著しく体形の異なる2つの型一昆虫に付着する便乗型雌(phoretomorphicfemale)と昆虫に付
着する習性のない非便乗型雌(non-phoretomorphic female) - を生じることが明らかにされてお
り, これはこの属全体に共通の現象であろうと考えられる. わが国からは, これまでに, 歩行
虫類の成虫に付着した状態で見出された便乗型雌に基づいて, 37種のA,chidispusが報告されて
いるが, なお, かなりの数の種が未記載のまま残されている. 今回は主としてゴモクムシ族と
ナガゴミムシ族のゴミムシに見出される2新種を, A.c1/uJoiおよびAtonegawanusと命名し記載
する. A.chujo1はA.c・tassi1adixKURosA,1989とA ku,-osa1MAHUNKAetRACK,1990(=A.sim出s
KuRosA,1989)に多くの特徴で一致し, この2種および同じ論文で記載したA.,-1parius,A.p,・o-
ximus,A.ohtaniiの3種に近緑のものと考えられるが, 基節毛4bがかなり細く基部で太まること
がまったくないことで容易に判別できる.Ato11egawanusはAdip1oiKuRosA,1991にやや似るが,
体の大きさ, 後体部背面の毛c,の位置,基節毛4bの長さと形状, 脚の太さ, 第4脚の毛の長さ
と形状, そのほか多くの点で異なり, 系統的にはあまり近緑でないと考えられる.
本論文は昨年6月に逝去された中條道夫先生から永年にわたり温かい励ましを頂いたものと
して, 先生の死を心から悼み捧げるものである.
