The BUILDING ministry of Christ

INTRODUCTION: The ministry of Christ towards us is mainly twofold – Redemption and Building.
The Four Gospels show us His earthly ministry where He completed His Redemption work. From Acts to Revelation,
we see His Heavenly Ministry in operation where He has been busy Building up His redeemed ones. Acts of the
Apostles is a Move to “Bring” people to The Lord. The Epistles are a Move to “Build” people up in The Lord.
Christ is First our Creator, then our Redeemer (due to the fall), and now the Builder of our lives forever.
A. CHRIST – The Builder & The Building Material
 He is The Builder of all things - Heb. 3:4, Psalm 127:1
 He is The Solid Rock of an overcoming Believer - Matt. 7:24-27, 1 Cor. 3:9-15
 He is The Bread of Life that Builds up His Saints - John 6:27, 48-51
 He is The Word that framed and upholds the entire universe - Heb. 1:3, 11:3
 He is The Cornerstone for God’s Dwelling Place - Ephesians 2:20-22
B. GOD’S PURPOSE FOR THIS BUILDING
 That we might be vessels that Edify and Build up others
i. And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and
teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of
Christ. Eph. 4:11-12

 That we might be Rooted and Built up in Him
i. As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and
established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Col. 2:6 -7

 That we may Possess more of our Inheritance in Him
i. So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to The Word of His Grace, which is able to build you up
and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. Acts 20:32

 That we might be Precious Stones for the Building of God’s City – The New Jerusalem - Rev. 21
i. You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual
sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 2:4-5

 That we might be Strengthened & Empowered against the gate of hell
i. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build My Church; and the gates
of hell shall not prevail against it. Matt. 16:18, 7:24-27
ii. Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his
house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that
house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. “But everyone who hears these sayings of
Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain
descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.
CONCLUSION: We were redeemed to be Built-up. Building any lasting structure is never a cheap task. Redemption
is finished but His Building ministry continues till the end of age. His principal & comprehensive building material is
His Word; nothing builds up like The Word. We are God’s Building and at the same time co-laborer with Him in this
Building. 1 Cor. 3:9-15

The secret place

Psalm 91:1-16
The enemies has a definite plan to kill, steal and destroy. John 10: 10. Satan is carrying out these activities very
proficiently. The fear of unknown has characterized our world – poverty, war, diseases and evil rampaging humanity.
Matthew 24:3-14: Jesus said that, time will come when there will be insecurity of life and property so much the heart
of men will fail them for fear. It’s only those who dwell in the Secret Place of Most High that will be safe.
WHAT IS GOD’s SECRET PLACE
The secret place is the place that God provides as the ultimate safety. It is a haven for the human soul. It is place
where God has prepare for Himself to keep those dare to come into it. Psalm 91:1-3. It is a place of refuge made by
God for His own Psalm 27:5, God Himself is the Secret Place Psalm 46:1, a place of habitation 91: 9. God wants
every of His children to dwell in His secret place. Rev 3:20
The objective of this lesson is to learn the characteristic of the Secret Place and who are the people that will dwell in
the Secret Place of The Most High.
DESCRIPTION OF THE SECRET PLACE
 A Place of constant dwelling ---not visiting. Psalm 27:4, Col 1:27

HOW CAN I DWELL IN THE SECRET PLACE
 Union with God. 2 Corinth 5 :17 , John 3: 3
 Righteousness: , Psalm 118:19-21, Psalm 15:1-3 Proverb 18:10,Psalm 5:4-5, Exodus 23:2,
 Close your mind/heart to anything that is not God. Proverb 4:23 , Deut 4 :9
 Perpetual of Obedience to God words. John 6 : 38, John 4 : 34 , John 8 :29, Psalm 40:8,
 Death to flesh John 6:63, 1 Corin.t 2;14,1 Corin. 15:31

 Consecrate yourself. Romans 12:1-2 (surrender to God )
 Put on The Lord Jesus Christ, Romans 13: 12-14. Rom 8:18
Conclusion: Rev 3:20 ”Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will
come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Psalmist asked who will ascend into the hill of the lord or
who may stand in the Holy Place? He who has clean hand and pure heart. Brethren, we must begin to wash hand and
clean our heart with word of God. (John 14 :3). God has prepared the Secret Place for his children, therefore His
children must prepare to enter the Secret Place. Isaiah 35:8-9 “And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall
be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though
fools, shall not err therein. No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found
there; but the redeemed shall walk there”.

The replacement ministry of Christ

INTRODUCTION: No longer I but Christ. The entire old creation was usurped by Satan, hence the need for a
Universal Replacement for everything. Christ replaced the entire old creation to form the entire new creation.
He is not just our Redeemer and Savior, He is our Replacement. Christ is living in us to replace us in every position
we occupy in life; whether as a husband or wife, master or servant, He is to be The One living and not us.
We were redeemed to be replaced. The Lord’s Replacement Ministry is principally two-fold – Earthly and Heavenly.
He was our replacement on The Cross during His Earthly Ministry; today as part of His Heavenly Ministry,
He dwells in our spirit as our inward replacement for the purpose of carrying out His Own will for our lives, thus,
we can say to the world - “It is no longer I but Christ that lives in Me”. This is God’s definition of The Christian Life.

C. CHRIST – God’s Replacement of The Old Testament

From the account of the Mount of Transfiguration (Matt. 17:1-9), Christ through His Death and Resurrection
replaced everything instituted by God in the Old Testament with Himself. He replaced …..

i. The Law - Gal. 2:16, Romans 10:4-6
ii. The Prophets, Priests and Kings - Matt. 17:1-9, Heb. 1:1-2
iii. The Offerings, Sacrifices, Rituals, Feasts, etc. - Col. 2:16-17, Heb. 13:10-12

D. CHRIST – God’s Replacement in The New Testament

 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. - Gal. 2:20

 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His Only Begotten Son into the world, that
we might live through Him. - 1 John 4:9

 As The Living Father hath sent Me, and I live by The Father: so he that eateth Me, even he shall live by Me.

E. God’s Purpose for This Replacement
1. Nothing of the Old Creation is acceptable to God - Colossians 1:20
2. Before Salvation, everything about us was conformed to the world - Rom. 12:1-2, Eph. 2:2
3. Upon Salvation, our old man still has a strong grip over our will, desires, ambition, & nature - Col. 3:5-11
4. Only by coming inside can He regenerate, sanctify, transform and conform us to His Own Image - Eph. 4:13

INSIDE INFORMATION
LESSON TEXT- MATTHEW 13:44
Inside information can be defined as a piece of information secretly realized or made available to privileged individuals or
groups before an occurrence of an event. The purpose of inside information is to influence behavior or maximize advantage
over others for instance inside-trading. Inside information available only to those within an organization. The pages of Bible
are full of inside information for wise children of God (the story of ten virgins). The information range from spiritual,
physical, economic and political. Mathew 13:11. ‘’Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set us free’’ John 8:32. As a
child of God will have the responsibility to search and use information God made available to our advantage. Psalm 19:1,
Proverb 25:2.

Today, I want us to examine some of that inside information God has provided for us and to review our attitude towards those
information.

CHRIST AS A 3 FOLD SEED
INTRODUCTION: Christ is God’s unique Seed in dealing with man. The first promise God made in the Bible
is the coming of a Seed that would bruise the head of the serpent. This Seed would thereafter be the means for
God’s Blessing to come on mankind. This Seed would be given a Kingdom, He will rule and reign and to His
Government there shall be no end. This Seed is no other than CHRIST. The Bible is made of Two Eternities –
Eternity Past and Eternity Future. Between these two eternities is a Time Bridge with 7 Dispensations, or 4 Big
Dispensations. This Unique Seed of God is The Divine Stream that flows from Eternity Past through the 7
Dispensations of human history unto Eternity Future.

was created as a soil to germinate This Seed. God is a Farmer, His Seed is Christ, and we were redeemed
to be the Vineyard for This Seed. The Church was established by Christ for Him to plant more of Himself
into us. Without this planting, there could be no reaping of Christ in our lives. 1 Cor. 3:6, 9, John 15:1-8

THE BELIEVER’ 3 STAGES
INTRODUCTION: Three historic universal events happened that forever shaped the destiny of mankind.
These 3 events represent the 3 stages of a believer. The first is the stage of creation, the second is the stage
of the fall and the third is the stage of God’s Salvation. We were created by God, we fell through Adam
yielding to the devil and we were saved through Christ’s redemption work.
1. The Stage of Creation:
a. Creation of man in the image and likeness of God
b. Created human Life
c. Children of mortal parents
d. Genesis 1 & 2

2. The Stage of The Fall:
a. Happened in Gen.3 when Satan injected his poisonous life into man’s created life
b. After the fall we became:
i. Children of the devil (John 8:44)
ii. Enemies of God (Romans 5:10)
iii. Brood of Vipers (Matt. 23:33)
iv. Sinners/slaves of sin (Rom. 6:20)

3. The Stage of The God’s Salvation:
a. Christ came to redeem us and impart The Uncreated Life of God into us.
b. The Divine Life of God was mingled with our human life
c. We were Born by God (1 Pet. 1:3)
d. Based on Salvation we became:
i. Children of God (John 1:12, 20:17)
ii. Heirs of God (Rom.8:17)
iii. Bride of Christ
iv. More than conquerors (Rom. 8:37)
e. The Holy Spirit in this stage works in the believer
i. Regeneration – quickening our spirit by imparting God’s Life into us.
ii. Sanctification – separate us from things that defile our spirit man

OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST
INTRODUCTION: The central theme of The Book of Hebrew is Christ as The Great High Priest. Who is an High
Priest? What are his responsibilities and qualifications? Christ is not just our Savior, Healer, Provider, etc., He is Our
Great High Priest. There are two aspects to The Lord’s Priesthood Ministry – the Earthly and the Heavenly. Heb.
4:14-15
– “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us
hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but
was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” Our Lord Jesus Christ is no longer just our Redeemer He is
our Great High Priest. He became our Savior and Redeemer when we got saved; thereafter He has become our High
Priest overseeing every area of our lives. Men often boast of how great the possessions they have – cars, houses,
qualifications, family doctors, etc, but here comes the writer of Hebrew charging us that “we have a Great High
Priest”. There is no higher or more valuable possession under Heaven than to have Jesus as your High Priest.

Who is a High Priest? A High Priest is one appointed for men in things pertaining to God; one who stands before
God on behalf of men; one who draws men nearer to God; and one who ministers God to the people. No one
appoints himself as High Priest, only God appoints into such an exalted office. Heb. 5:1-4. A High Priest is chosen
among men so that they may have compassion and be able to relate with the infirmities of the people. An angel
cannot be appointed as a High Priest simply because they would not be able to sympathize with our human
weaknesses. Heb. 4:15. No man will go far in life without having Jesus as their Great High Priest. We all need a
High Priest Who can orchestrate situations in our favor in the Heavens.

The Two Aspects to The LORD’s Priesthood Ministry
1. The Earthly Ministry (after the order of Aaronic Priesthood)
a. He accomplished this when He became our ransom by offering Himself as an Eternal
sacrifice for all our sins on the Cross. Heb. 10:5-10
b. Thus, He became The Author of Eternal Salvation. His earthly ministry was finished on The
Cross. Heb. 9:24-26, John 19:30

2. The Heavenly Ministry (after the order of Melchizedek Priesthood) - This entails:
a. Interceding for us ceaselessly night and day – Heb. 7:24-25
b. Blessing all that pertains to us – Heb. 7:1
c. Ministering God to us continuously by imparting us with The Indestructible Life of God. Heb. 7:16
d. Executing the New Covenant provisions to us. Heb. 9:11,15
What Makes Him Such a Great High Priest?
a. He is infinitely higher than the Heavens – Heb. 7:26
b. He is both God and Man. As Man He can sympathize with our weaknesses, and as God He can help
us.
c. He continues forever, having an unchangeable priesthood (He cannot die). Heb. 7:24
d. He is The Mediator and Executor of The New Covenant. Heb. 9:15

Conclusion: You may not have the best Doctor in town, but thank God you have such A Great High Priest; I may not have
$100 trillions, but thank God I have such a Great High Priest; I may not have a Green Card, but thank God I have
such a Great High Priest; I may not have a Presidential Connection to White House, but thank God I have such a
Great High Priest. Heb. 8:1 sums it up – “Now this is the main point of things we are saying: We have such a High
Priest, Who is seated at the Right Hand of The Throne of The Majesty in The Heavens.”
