SOORANAD BALACHANDRAN
Born in 1949 June, in Thatta village of Pathanamthitta District. Father:
Pandalam P.R. Madhavan Pillai. Mother: N. Sarojini Amma. Education: Thatta L.P.
School, Sooranad Government H.S., University College Thiuvananthapuram. Won
the P.G. degree in History from Govt. College, Bhopal.

Yugantharangaliloode.
Entered active politics while studying for pre-degree course at Devaswom Board
College, Sasthamcotta. First as a C.P.M. sypathiser. Later on, became an activist of
the CPI (ML). Worked in its student wing too.
Participated actively in the Cheloor Lake struggle at Sasthamcotta in 1968.
Very often subjected to severe tortures for his political views and actions. That too, in
consort with starvation. Arrested for having set fire to the ballot box in the college
election at D.B. College, Sasthamcotta in 1969 while studying there. Imprisonment
in Pathanamthitta Sub-Jail for a long period.
Put to severe police torture again on the alleged involvement in Nagaroor –
Kummil incident in 1970. Went underground during the Emergency period. Won
the P.G. degree during this period itself. Acted in three T.V. serials.

FORE WORD
The political situations existing in India now are the ones already anticipated
by the Indian revolutionary intellectuals years back. These are very much conducive
situations for the Indian revolution. It is at this juncture that the revolutionaries
must strengthen themselves as hard as steel. This is the time when the resentment of
the people against the retrogressive rulers burns bitterly. All revolutionaries should
be very vigilant and cautious. The class enemies and their agents should be liquidated.
It is doubtless that the nature of the Indian armed revolution will write an ever-new
chapter in the world political history.
The root cause of the schism in the retrogressive state machinery was the
emergence of the Indian revolutionary movement in 1967. Also, it paved way for the
splits and divisions in the reactionary and revisionist political parties and groups by
aggravating their internal conflicts. The progress of our party brought about their
deviations and policy formulations in the national as well as international policies.
These are facts that nobody can deny. The reason for the aggravation of instability
of the reactionary government was the policies deliberated and implemented by our
party from 1967 onwards. All the airy castles built by the retrogressive government
were thwarted. It was because of that they created an anarchy called emergency. It is
a fact that Indian people never succumbed to bourgeois administrative reforms.
What we need in India today is the perpetual armed revolution. What is
inevitable is such a revolutionary process that annihilates all the class enemies.

Even before the emergency, a lot of our comrades were tortured brutally, killed
and incarcerated by the oppressive rulers. Those who were imprisoned were the top
leaders of our party. More importance is given to them than those who were
imprisoned during the emergency. The reason is that we could identify them as the
genuine revolutionaries. Those jailed during the emergency were once our betrayers
and hated retrogressive, opportunities and cheats. They were who had made fund
collection in the name of the working class and saved money for their own purposes.
They received bribes and were indulged in bourgeois parliamentary illusions. They
had no qualms to loot the public exchequer and squander. They still do the same.
These fellows try to catch fish without getting their fingers wet. We very strongly
oppose these trade unionists, demagogues and hollow revolutionists. Having won
an LLB degree, they exploit people openly by being engaged half in politics and half
in profession. They are the watchdogs of the bourgeois system. We should not allow
these professional politicians to enter our leadership row. They should be expelled at
any cost at the first instance itself. Like that, the white collars, known, as government
officers are not eligible to come to our leadership.
The comrades who give leadership in the armed struggle must be technically
and scientifically hard trained and courageous. They should be willing to declare
uncompromising struggle against enemies. Those who are supposed to be thinking
a communalist way must also be ousted from our party. Those who have not adequate
height and effeminate persons must be kept under surveillance very cautiously. They
should be made to work against the government but at the same time should not be
brought to our party leadership. Only those who maintain a close relationship
continuously with the farm workers and industrial workers should be allowed to
come to our movement. If they indulge in activities disregarding the ideals and
declared goals of the movement, they should be expelled without showing any sort
of clemency. Their organisational experience and special abilities are not to be taken
into account in this regard. Those who show favour to caste, religion and relatives
both in party work and life should not be considered for leadership at any rate.
Though personality has a significant role to play, priority should be given only to
the views based on Marxism-Leninism and Mao thoughts. Those who worked with
Gandhism or Vivekananda’s ideas, those who were sympathizers of these views and

those who have never been aware of the ideas of proletarian dictatorship since
childhood are not fit for the party. There is no point in including them in the party.
Instead, we should transform Indian Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) into a
Communist Party which weaponizes a chosen few ideologically, that does not deviate
even a bit from it’s set goals, that expels the deviant leaders at suitable time, that
carefully observes the criticisms raised by retrogressive elements, and which is loyal
to and stable in the armed struggle and class war without getting caught in the
temptations.
We have to destroy bourgeois reformist institutions like Co-operative firms.
They have been made with a view to liberating the rural peasantry from their debt
liabilities. But moneybags too come to rule these institutions through bourgeois
parliamentary ways. They loot the public exchequer and keep false accounts and
own what all the government allots in the name of people. A new class of exploiters
emerges here. The rural people are lured into loans on mortgage of their land and
other properties. This certainly leads to a debt trap from which they cannot escape.
Consequently, these very co-operative firms confiscate the mortgaged properties and
throw the poor into streets. Private moneylenders trample upon the people by lending
them money at big interest rate. This is another facet of exploitation. The main
reason for the mass suicide is the debt trap. This fact is not endemic to any single
district in Kerala, but applicable to all districts of our state.
Family planning is a social reform measure deliberately imposed on Indian
people by the social imperialists and their allies – the retrogressive rulers. Those
who think that an urgent armed struggle is inevitable in India will not be hoodwinked
by these shortcuts. The class enemies have unleashed a white terrorist rule in India.
By giving red counter hittings against the white terrorist rule, we retaliate attack
with attack and invasion with invasion.
We will march without any distortion from our ideas holding up Marxism-
Leninism and Mao thoughts. Let our many comrades fall dead. We take rest only
after eliminating the class enemies. If hundreds of our comrades sacrificed their
lives, it would be after having beheaded thousands of our enemies. Our ideology
marches ahead all over the world. Mao thoughts echo the world over as the splendid

slogan of the oppressed and exploited workers, peasants and the mass of Asia, Africa,
Latin America and Europe. Let that lion’s roar reverberate very strongly the world
over! Let the retrogressives and revisionists shudder! Let the world proletarian
dictatorship go ahead as the ultimate goal!
Those who accept the attire of communism should definitely live and behave
as communists in all sense. Our trustworthy comrade Charu Mazumdar followed a
very clear and strong policy during crises. Indian people or the human race can
never forget that great revolutionary.
Our ways are the most complex and difficult ones. The parties that cannot
confront complexity and difficulties are not considered revolutionary parties by us.
The more complexity and difficulty our party can face the more revolutionary they
become. The parties banned during emergency comprised only the retrogressives
and fake revolutionaries. What they needed was the political power alone. They do
not give importance to class struggle. But our party always gives importance to class
struggle. The genisis and growth of our party are based on class struggle. The
emergence of our party itself shows the trust that people have in class struggle.
Our history has proven hundred and one times that the way to revolution is
not through ballots. So we resort to class struggle through armed struggle. The
proletarian dictatorship is the ultimate goal of our party too. All retrogressives who
try to get popularity by holding procession and rallies with hired people should be
eliminated. We will demolish the monuments and statues erected in memoriam of
these fellows. Instead, we will spread the invincibility of the working class. We will
fly the flag of working class the world over.
The armed agrarian riot begun in the Wayanad foot hills spread to various
regions of Kerala. Comrades Varghese and Stephen gave leadership to these agrarian
struggles. Comrade Varghese was brutally murdered by the police. Comrade Stephen
was brutally tortured by them. Despite these, the retrogressive ruling class was not
successful in suppressing or liquidating the armed agrarian struggles; nor will it be.
We should liberate our comrades using armed force. Some fund collections are being
held under the pretext of helping us. Free advocacy is also given to us. We should
neither bow our head nor give in before these fellows. They are not seen to have an
