wins the ballonce again.
It was a successful season for this year's rugby pro-
gramme. We started offour season with a f;w exhibi-
tion games, which were quick to point out cur
strengths and our weaknesses. After Spring break,
when we had improved on our weaknesses and built on
our strengths, we were ready for our first challenge.
This came from S.M.U. who hadjust come offa Euro-
pean tour. We came put strongly and in the end were
able to beat them quite handily. This victory set the
pace for the rest ofthe season, which we firished
with two back-to-backvictories over our arch rivals
from the bay. These two victories qualified us for the
B.C. High School Rugby Championships, waich were
held in Kamloops B.C. It was at the B.C.'s that we
regained the support ofour five "rehabilitated" players.
It was a hard fought tournament and in the end we
came out "fourth and bald." I would like to wish the
returning players from this year's 1st XV the best ofluck
on asuccessful season next year. I would also like to say thank
you to Mr. Hall and Mr. Samuel for their fine coaching
and dedication to the team. First XV Rugby has given
us many fine and unforgettable memories. It has been
a pleasure to be the Captain of this year's team and an
experience that will be with me forever.
