Abstract. We conducted five surveys in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and northwestern China from 2000 to
2004 in order to study wild bee fauna and pollination biology for combating desertification and planting
campaigns in Asian arid areas. This is the first report of a taxonomic study of the genus Andrena col-
lected by the Kyushu University Expedition in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. In this paper ten species of
the genus Andrena from Kazakhstan are recorded for the first time.
