I have always wanted to write a book but never realized how much work
and support is required to actually get it done. I would like to extend a
special thanks to my family for being my guinea pigs and trying all those
panini. Especially my daughter Alexa, who is always up for a snack. And
for also making do without me while I tapped away at the keyboard during
some important family events.
And thanks to Lisa Laing, who had to hear the phrase “I need more time”
way too often.

Introduction
THE ANSWER To THE world’s most popular question, “What’s for dinner?”
(or lunch or even breakfast) is often a sandwich. And, unfortunately, it’s
usually the same kind of sandwich over and over again. Eating the same
boring sandwiches day in and day out can become monotonous for some.
And for those people, it’s a good thing that there are panini.
Making a hot panini instead of a regular sandwich is a great way to
shake up your routine and add some fun into your meals. Hot, crispy bread
and a variety of ingredients beats the heck out of a peanut butter and jelly
on white bread.
Panini are easy to make. All you need is a panini press. You may already
own a panini press that’s been sitting unused in a closet somewhere. Per-
haps you received it as a gift for your wedding or at a shower. Maybe you
even used your panini press when you first got it. However it came to be in
your possession, it’s time to start using it. Clear a space off on your counter
right now. Go ahead and move the smoothie maker or the vegetable juicer
into the closet and start using that panini press as much as possible.
And if you don’t already own a panini press, what are you waiting for?
It’s one of those inexpensive kitchen appliances that everyone should have.
Sandwich presses used to be so large and expensive that only restaurants
would buy them, but now they are a very popular home appliance. There’s
a huge selection of panini presses out there, with many different features
and styles. There’s bound to be one that suits your needs.
You may think that panini are limited to Italian cuisine, but that’s not
true at all. Even though the panini is of Italian origin, it has become popular
all over the world. And now you’ll find many different cuisines influencing
panini sandwiches. Chinese wonton wrappers can be filled with all of your
favorite ingredients and cooked on the panini press. If you think all the best
panini are made with Italian ingredients, you should try a taco panini wonton
served with salsa and sour cream for dipping. It’s sure to change your mind.
