Closed bomb firings have been conducted to detemine the burnig not behavio of pure nitrocellulose (NC) gun
propellants. Samples producd and tested included nitration levels of 12.02.12.65,13.11%, in both zero, and seven-
perforated cylindrical geomnetries. A sample containing basic lead carbonate was als included. Burning rate derived
from the closed bomnb tests were compared to strandl burner data measured on samples extruded from the sane NC
balches. The burning rate plots for the pure NC samples show the characteritic slope changes of propellants with
additives.
