ABSTRACT

This study will address how the technology of in-memory computing is affecting the way big
companies run their businesses today.
The author will describe an In-Memory solution offered by SAP called SAP HANA, which is
an in-memory computing platform that combines database systems, application processing,
and integration services on a single platform. This kind of analysis will derive real business
value through organizing a wide variety of data types from different sources, and easily
analyzing that data within the context. Also, the author will describe the usage scenario of
SAP HANA as a development platform, giving an example how to build applications
powered by SAP HANA.
The expected result of the thesis is the delivery of a detailed analysis of the in-memory
computing concept and a complete overview on SAP HANA as a product, that could become
the source of reliable insights into customer behavior analysis and help him to identify
market trends and potential business expansions. Also, to help business owners derive real
business value from the in-memory computing technology.
