Welcome Coaches
Welcome Ambassador Coaches!
This is the beginning of your Ambassador journey. The first three lessons with your
Ambassadors will be used to:
• Build relationships
• Build inclusion
• Set behavioral expectations
• Obtain commitment to the Ambassador Program from the selected Ambassadors
• Introduce social and communication skills
• Prepare Ambassadors for their first classroom visit
• Build critical thinking skills through school behavior observation; self reflection; and goal
setting.
A few tips to get started:
• Create the “What Would You Do” wall. This is a bulletin board that will feature
Challenge documents from students throughout the school each month.
• Post the Life Goals and Lifelines in your room for reference.
• Play music as the Ambassadors enter your room.
• Greet and welcome your Ambassadors as they enter the room.
• Always have a positive attitude with your Student Ambassadors!

Setting Expectations
Welcome Message
Hello Student Ambassadors!
Congratulations! You have been selected to be a leader at our school. This will
be an exceptional year. We will use the Life Goals and Lifelines to make our
school a better place for everyone.
The Life Goals are: Do the Right Thing and Treat People Right.
Task: Talk to the person next to you about how the Life Goals can help our school
become a great place to learn.
Community Circle: Life Goals and Lifelines
Have the Ambassadors turn to their Life Goals and Lifelines sheet in their
planners. Have the Ambassadors introduce themselves, tell one thing that they
hope to get out of the Ambassador Program, and share a Lifeline from the sheet
they believe is necessary for leaders to possess.
Mind Map these words on chart paper. Discuss with the Ambassadors the
importance of the Life Goals and Lifelines and that it will take all of them to work
hard on the these traits to become great leaders of the school.

Developing Ambassador Meeting Behavior Procedures
Discuss as a group the behavior procedures needed for the Ambassador meetings.
These will be the directions and expectations of how we will treat each other and
how we will do the right thing each time we are together.
Suggested inquiries to ask your students in creating behavior procedures:
• If we want to do the right thing in our Ambassador meeting, what must we do?
• If we want to treat people right in our Ambassador meetings, how must we act?
Make sure all Ambassadors take an active role in creating the procedures and that all
agree to the final versions of the procedures.
Example: Ambassador Meeting Behavior Procedure
Do the Right Thing
1. Model good behavior during our meetings.
2. Be patient and flexible when listening to new ideas.
3. Participate in activities.
Treat People Right
1. Be positive and accepting to new ideas.
2. Use active listening with all speakers (eyes, ears, heart, undivided attention and you)
3. Be a team player when involved in group activities.
Be sure to post the behavior procedures in the room and/or make copies of the
procedures for each Ambassador Planner.

Community Circle: Discuss Roles and Responsibilities
• Purpose of the Ambassadors
• Agenda for the year
• The Life Goals and Lifelines
• The Ambassador’s Responsibilities (teaching, assignments, modeling leadership, positive
attitude, team player)
• School’s Responsibilities (meeting the challenges; improving their behavior and academics
through their development as leaders)
Commit to being an Ambassador
Have each Ambassador make their commitment to the Ambassador Program by
Repeating the Ambassador Oath and signing the Ambassador Commitment
Declaration. Hang the signed declaration in your meeting room as a reminder to
everyone that we are committed together toward the same vision and goals in helping
our school. A sample oath and commitment declaration is provided however you can have
students design one if you wish.
Assigning Adopted Classrooms
Distribute the assigned adopted classrooms to the Ambassadors. Include the teacher’s
name, teacher’s email, student roster, room number and any additional information
needed (i.e., classroom website, blog).
Ambassador Assignment: What’s Going on In My World sheet
What’s Going on in My World document is a question and answer
sheet that each Ambassador will complete (the document is enclosed). They will need to bring
this completed document with them to the next Ambassador meeting.

Lesson 2
Preparing for Classroom Visits
Welcome Message
Building relationships is a key toward creating a successful, positive school climate. One of
the first tasks as Student Ambassadors is to build relationships with the school community
including teachers and students.
Task: Discuss with your neighbor what skills you believe are needed to build positive
relationships and communicate effectively with your adopted classroom. Be ready to share.
Community Circle
Discuss what skills are necessary in communicating effectively to teachers and peers.
Lead into the STARS Tips.
STARS Tips
Pass out the Stars Tips handout. Have your students number the points of the star from 1 to 5. List and
discuss the five points to being a star. The students will fill in each point as it is being discussed.
Smile and Handshake (or High Five)
Remind your students it is important when building relationships to greet people with a smile and handshake. They will want
to greet as many people as possible throughout the school community to let them know their name and that they represent
the Student Ambassadors who are making a positive change for the school.
Teach Lifelines with Enthusiasm
Remind your students that they represent the Life Goals and Lifelines for the school community. They need to model and
teach these character traits throughout their lives. Modeling with enthusiasm is one of the best forms of teaching!
Attitude
Tell your students to always keep a positive attitude. We are here to support and encourage each other.
Remember Eye Contact
Good speakers look out into the audience to make people feel good. TIP: if you are uncomfortable looking directly into a
person’s eyes; Look at their forehead.
Speak Up
A message needs to be heard. You are saying something worth hearing.
