About Suskind
1942. In het door de nazi’s bezette Amsterdam wordt Walter Suskind aangesteld als hoofd van de Hollandsche Schouwburg. In opdracht van de Joodse Raad regelt hij dat zijn joodse medeburgers vanuit de Schouwburg op transport worden gesteld naar Westerbork, zogenaamd om in Duitsland te gaan werken. Maar als Walter ter ore komt welk lot hun in werkelijkheid te wachten staat, besluit hij een levensgevaarlijk dubbelspel te spelen. Hij sluit vriendschap met de hoge SS-officier Aus der Fu?nten en zoekt tegelijkertijd aansluiting bij de illegaliteit. Gebruikmakend van zijn positie in de Schouwburg probeert hij een groot aantal kinderen van een wisse dood te redden. Terwijl de razzia’s toenemen en het net zich verder sluit rond de joodse gemeenschap, riskeert Walter alles wat hem lief is.
