Abstract AnewbuprcstidgenusfromtheTokaragroupoftheRyukyuArchipel-

ToYAMA,1986.Thisspecieshasmanyofthecharactersof thegenusDice1ca,butalsohas
thespecificcharactersofothergenerainthePsi1opteriniofChalcophorinae,namely,scat-
teredsensoryporesonbothsidesoftheantennaeandasinglegroovealongthemarginof
presternalprocess.
I was fortunate to capture a pair of the specimens of lcerca 川s/1fdal on
NakanoshimaIs.oftheTokaragroupof theRyukyu Archipelagoin1997.When I
foundtherelativelylarge femaleonthecutsurfaceofastoutbranch, Iwasunableto
placeit inthegenusDicot-caEscHscHoLTz,1829,butit lookedlikesomespeciesof
thegenusApateun1SplNoLA,1837inthePolyboth1'IsgenericgroupsensuVOLKOVITSH,
(2001) fromMadagascar.Thespecimenwasclumsyinthebehaviorandattractedmy
attention.
Thespecimenshaveprojectionsontheinnersidesofmesotibiainthemaleand
prolongedelytra1apices,whicharecommoncharactersinthegenusDicerca.These
alsohavethescatteredsensoryporesonbothsidesoftheantennaeandsinglegroove
alongthemarginofthepresternalprocess,whicharenot foundinthegenusDicerca.
Forthesereasons,itisconsideredthatthespecimensbelongtoanewgenuscloselyre-
latedtoDicercaEscHscHoLTz,1829.Inthispaper,Iwilldescribeitandredescribethe
specieswithaddedfemaledescription.

Etymology. ThegenericnameisderivedfromthenameoftheTokaragroupof
theRyukyuArchipelagowherethespecieswasfirstdiscovered.
Remarks. This newgenus is allied to thegenus Dicot・ca, but can bedistin-
guishedfromitbythefollowingcharacters:1)bodyvaulte andconvexwiththehigh-
estpartatelytra1baseinlateral view,whileinDicot・ca,it isrobust,andconvexwith
thehighestpartbehindelytra1base;2)eachofantennalsegments6thto10thtetrago-
nalandplanate,whileinDicerca,eachistriangularandrobust;3)sensoryporeson
antennaescatteredonbothsurfacesof6thto11thsegmentsother thanthesocketson
innersurfaceofthebroadersegmentsandontheoutersurfaceofapicalsegment;in
Dice,ca, antennae with no scattered pores, though the following five species of

Female. Clypeuswithanteriormargintriangularlyemarginate.Posteriorcoxae

middle than in themale; last visible abdominal sternite simply roundedat apex.

SouthwestChina,D. (D)ku1-osawa1HATToRIetAKIYAMA,1999fromTaiwan,andD.
(D)tibialisLEWIS,1893fromSouthwestJapanandChinahavethesamecharactersas
theothermembersofthesubgenusDicot・ca,thoughdiffering fromthelatterinthepe-
culiaritiespointedoutbelow.Theyaresegregatedinaspecies-grouptobecalledthe
corrugatagroup.
