Thirty-threespeciesof the lepturinegenusPidoniahaveso far been recorded
fromTaiwan;viz.,13speciesbelongtothesubgenusPidonla,9speciestoMumonand
11speciestoCryptopldo川a. Inthispaper,wewilladdtwonewspeciesbelongingto
thesubgenusCyptopidonlaoccurringinthesubalpinezoneofsouthernTaiwan.0ne
ofthem,1) (C)yushana, wasfoundintheconiferousandbroadleavedmixed foreston
Tatachia-AnbuofChayiCountyatabout2,450-2,600minaltitude.Theotherspecies,
1)(C) luna,wasalso foundinthesamekindofforestasfor theprecedingspecieson
Mt.ChuyunshanofKaohsiungCountyatabout2,300minaltitude.

Bodysmall, relatively rounde slightly taperedapically (male) or robust (fe-
male),and furnishedwithpalefulvouspubescences.
Length: 5.7-7.1mm (male), 6.5-6.9mm (female); width: 1.5-1.8mm (male),
1.7-1.9mm(female).
Color: Male: - Bodyyellowish fulvoustoblack;headblack;mouthpartsbrown,

twopairsofarcuatewhitishyellowmarkings.Venterofhead,prosternum,meso- and
metasternablack;abdomenin1stand2ndsegmentsblack,3rd-5thbrown.

Structure. Headacrosseyesbroader thanthebasalwidthofpronotum inboth
sexes(1.09:1),narrowedposteriadandabruptlyconstrictedatneck;terminalsegment
ofmaxillarypalpusbroadenedatmiddle,convexalongouter marginand tapering to-
wardsapex; temperawelldeve1ope nearlysmoothanddenselyclothedwithsetaeon
surface; frons subvertica1 and transverse, finely punctulate; vertex weakly convex
above,denselypunctulatewithfinesculptures,denselyclothedwithfinepubescence;
gulashining,sparselycoveredwithshortpubescence.Eyesrelativelyprominent,mod-
erately faceted,shallowlyemarginateatmiddleofinternalmargins.Antennalongand
slender, insertedjustbehindtheleveloffrontalmarginofeye,slightlyshorter(male)
ordistinctlyshorter(female) thanbody; firstsegmentdistinctlydilatedtowardsapex,
sparselycoveredwithfineerectpubescence;lastsegment5.8times(male)or4.8times
(female)aslongaswide;comparativelengthofeachantennalsegment formulatedas
follows:5th>1st十2nd=3rd>4th>6th (male) or 5th>4th>1st十2nd=3rd>6th (fe-
male).
Prothoraxslightly longer thanthebasal width (1.05:1 inmale; 1.01:1 in fe-
male),shallowlyconstrictedbothbehindapexandbeforebase,roundlyexpandedlat-
erallyjustbeforemiddle,whichisslightlywider than(male,1.05:1)orequalto(fe-
male,1:1) thebasalwidth;basedistinctlybroaderthanapex(1.57:1inmale;1.38:1
in female); pronotaldiscconvexabove, finelyandcloselypunctulate,densely clothed
withfinepubescence;posteriorlateralsetaelong;prosternumscatteredwithshortpu-
bescence;meso-andmetasternafinelypunctulate,denselywithfineappressedpubes-
cence.Scutellumsmalland triangular, 0.52 timesas longaswide, bearingrelatively
thicksetaeonsurface.Elytra2.5times(male)or2.34 times(female)as longasthe

basalwidth,gradually narrowedposteriorly(male) oralmostparallel-sided(female),
connectedly (male) or separately (female) roundedat apices; surfacesparsely and
finelypunctulate,scatteredwithsuberectpubescence, thediameter ofeach puncture
beinglessthanthedistancebetweenpunctures.
Legs relativelyslender, finely punctulateand clothedwith short pubescence;
femoranot reachingelytra1apices inbothsexes; tibiaelinear,withsuberectpubes-
cence; tarsi densely with short pubescenceon under surface, with third segment
stronglydilatedapicallyanddeeplyemarginateatmiddleofapex,metatarsusinfirst
segmentlongerthanthefollowingtwosegmentscombined.
Abdomenelongateandgradually narrowedapically, densely coveredwithex-
tremelyfinepubescenceonsurface;apicalmarginoflaststernitetruncateandshal-
lowlyemarginateatmiddle(male)orround(female);lasttergiteroundinbothsexes.
Malegenitalia: -Medianlobelong, relativelyslender,graduallysclerotized to-
wardsapex,stronglycurvedinbasal thirdandacutelypointedatapex;ventralplate
weaklybentinwardsatapex.Laterallobesshorterthanmedianlobe,withapicalparts
relativelyshort,curvedanddenselyfurnishedwithlongterminalsetae.

SAITo, 1979,butcanbedistinguished fromthe later by thesmaller bodysize (in

inmaleor 7.5-9.1mm in female), theshorter antenna, the truncateandshallowly

some short pubescence. Eyes relatively prominent, moderately facete shallowly
emarginateatmiddleofinternalmargins.Antennalongandslender, insertedjustbe-
hindthelevelof frontalmarginsofeyes,slightlylongerthanbody; firstsegmentdis-
tinctlydilatedtowardsapex,sparselycoveredwithfineerectpubescence;lastsegment
5.2timesaslongaswide;comparativelengthofeachantennalsegmentformulatedas

femora not reaching elytra1apices; tibiae linear, with suberect pubescence; tarsi
denselywithshortpubescenceonundersurface,withthirdsegmentstronglydilated
apicallyanddeeplyemarginateatmiddleofapex, firstsegmentofmetatarsuslonger
thanthefollowingtwosegmentscombined.
Abdomenelongateandgraduallynarrowedapically,denselycoveredwithfinepu-
bescenceonsurface;apicalmarginoflaststemiteshallowlytriangularlyemarginateat
middle;lasttergiteroundatapex.
Malegenitalia: -Medianlobelong,relativelyslender,graduallysclerotized to-
wardsapex,stronglyarcuateinprofile,acutelypointedatapex;ventralplatestraightly
andacutelypointedatapex.Laterallobesshorterthanmedianlobe,withapicalparts
relativelylong,curvedanddenselyfurnishedwithshortterminalsetae.

末端節の中央は弱く窪むこと, 雄交尾器中央1,-先端はより鋭く狭まり, 側片先端の葉片部は比
較的短く, 長毛を密に備えるなどの特徴から区別は容易である.

本新種はi)(C)albo,nclcu/ala(MATsus1-l1TA)に似てぃるが, 独l 角は短く, 前月lie背板側緑隆起は顕
著で, 翅鞘はより長く, 金属光沢を伴う鈍藍色で, 弧状絞は細く黄白色を呈すること, 雄交尾
器中央片は比較的細く, 側片の業 部は比較的長く, 短11を密に備えるなどの特徴から区別は
容易である.
