‘Tarts book was prepared for the North India
rast Society by Rev. Ang. Brodhend, and
Vey. 'f. 8. Wynkoop. The hymns in English
metres are for the most part taken from the
4abter aur Git of the Ameriean Presbyterian
Mission; though a few hymns have been added
from other sources, The hymns in Indian
meastres are from the well-known aa 24,
‘arama sul Waited, So far ae could be ax
eertained, the names of the Hindusténi Melo-
dies to which these latter chould be eung are
indicatod with onch hymn, Mony of those
muolodies may be found in English notation
in the Sway Sangrah. Tunes suitable for the
peculior English metres may be found in the
Sabir cay Git, Bdition with music. ‘The 170th
hymn ie a franslation of Hold the Fost, and
the 174th of The Gates Ajar. The 17ird is
Sot thou Weary. The tune of ihe 171st may
ve found in the Dif aur Hope kd Rdgméze.
