Cover il/ustration: Part of a soft x-ray image of the sun and moon obtained on 11
July 1991 with a normal incidence te/escape that was coated with a multilayer for
A = 63.5 Ã. The te/escape pointing was stabilized on the sun within 1 arcsec, and
blurring ofthe moon's edge dueto its motion toward the sun was compensated
for by the velocity of the te/escape near the end of its free fali. X-ray active regions
behind the sun back-il/uminated the moon for a knife edge test. (Photo by IBM
