This volume contains the cumulative indexes for all six issues of sociological abstracts
(se) Volume 41, 1993. Each issue consists of a body of abstracts of articles/papers published in
the serial literature or presented at association meetings, classified into broad and narrow subject
matter areas meaningful to sociologists and other social scientists. In Issue 2, these classifications
were reorganized, reducing the number from 33 to 29 broad subject areas, and from 97 to 94
narrow areas.
Each of the five regular sq issues opens with a Table of Contents listing the classification areas
under which the abstracts are organized. Following the classified abstracts section are a detailed
subject index, an author index, and a source index listing the journals abstracted, with a
bibliographic entry for each item. Also included in each $q@ issue is an issue of the International
Review of Publications in Sociology (IRPS), containing bibliographic listings of book
reviews and abstracts of books. The author and source indexes of IRPS issues 66-70 are merged
into this Volume 41 cumulative index.
The sixth sq issue is the Conference Abstracts Supplement (CAS), in which the
supplements of abstracts of papers presented at conferences during the year are bound (in 1993 ,
Volume 41, Supplements 171-172). Also included are a Late Arrivals section for abstracts that
arrived after completion of the supplements, and author and subject indexes for all entries, which
are merged into this Volume 41 cumulative index.
Each s@ abstract or bibliographic listing is given an accession number, preceded by an alpha
character identifying the type of document (abstracts of journal articles, books, or conference
papers, and bibliographic listings of book reviews).

(a) The Serial Literature Accession
Numbers
There are 12,489 abstracts from the
published serial literature and citations of 9323924 - 93Z6686
dissertations (selected from Dissertation 93Z6687 - 93Z9331
Abstracts International). In issues 1-2, each 9300001 - 9302140
bears a four-digit accession number with an 9302141 - 9304736
upper case alpha prefix. (Volume 2 of s@ 9304737 - 9307081
began with 0001.) In issue 3, this numbering
system was changed to a five-digit number
preceded by a two-digit representation of the
year. The first abstract in Issue 3 is 9300001.
Volume 41 contains the accession numbers
listed here.

be of interest to, sociologists. Each citation No. 68 41/3 c01725 - c01759
bears a five-digit accession number prefixed a89862 - a90950
with a lower case "a"; 7,420 citations are No. 69 41/4 c01760 - c01794
included in the IRPS issues for 1993. Also a90951 - a92515

The dissertation citations, encompassed within the main body of abstracts in each sq@ issue,
