DEDICATION
To Bob, without whom I could never have had such a dynamic and rewarding
life. You are the engine propelling our family to seek God with all our hearts,
use our gifs to serve our Father, and honor the Lord in everything. You are so
talented, kind, and hardworking. I am truly thankful for you, and I love you.
To our daughters Brynne, Brooke, and Brielle—you make me who I am and
my love for you is endless! When you were born, I sought the mantle of
intentional motherhood, asking the Lord to provide me with His divine wisdom
as well as the stamina and determination to be the best mother for you beautiful
young ladies. Thank you for growing and stretching me, and for encouraging me
with your love and care in return.
To my own dear mother, Joan, with great love and gratitude for your devotion
as a single parent and your encouragement to follow Jesus. Thank you for
always loving me and for your kind words. You are my best role model for
motherhood.
To the families we have been blessed to minister to, thank you for your trust
in us and your hard work to save your families. It is worth all the sacrifices and

To you, Laura—you make my half whole. With you and the Lord I can be strong
to fight for our family. It is true that opposites attract, and yet in many ways we
are so much alike—and you complement the areas where I am weak. Te books
I’ve written in the past two decades of my life were possible because of your
love and encouragement. God knew that I needed a special partner who could
handle all the long hours of ministry and travel, someone who could be a strong
mother when I’m gone and yet bond with me closely when I’m home.
To you, my three daughters, who have stretched my faith since I first held
your tiny bodies in my arms—that awesome call to fatherhood has molded my
character as nothing else could. To kneel by your beds each night to bless you
with prayer has been more important to me than any other accomplishments.
To my parents, who long ago went to be with the Lord, with warm
recollections of our simple family life on the Nebraska farm: You weren’t
perfect parents, but you did love God, and that heritage has been handed down to
me to carry on. I look forward to seeing you again in Heaven to rejoice in what
God did with such inauspicious beginnings.
I also thank all of you who have turned to us for help and guidance. Your trust
in our calling from the Lord is humbling; your determination to fight back
against all the odds of hell has made every investment of time and energy
worthwhile. As individuals and families, together we have sought the hope that
is in Christ, made possible by his great sacrifice upon the cross.
