1.1 Overview of functionalscope
1 Introduction
ServerViewInstallationManager (referred to hereas InstallationManager for short) comes
as part ofServerViewSuite. WithintheServerViewSuite, InstallationManager is the
component for configuring and installing operating systems and other user management
and server management software. InstallationManager also enables subsequent
adjustments to systemsettings onsystems that havealready beeninstalled.
Theoperating systeminstallationonthetarget systemcanbeinitiated locally using a
DVDdriveonthat system, or remotely withPXEboot using a deployment server.
Inpreparationfor theinstallation, InstallationManager wizards guideyou througha
series ofconfigurationmenus, whereyou compileall parameters required for system
configurationand for thesubsequent automatic operating systeminstallation. You can
savetheseparameters to a configurationfileand usethemto install additional servers
withthesamehardwarearchitecture.
This is theServerViewInstallationManager commonmanual that contains the
explanationfor a functionsupported ina specific regionand languageonly.
TheinstallationofSuseLinuxand VMwareis not supported for Japan.
You will find thelatest informationonsupported server systems and supported
operating systems for Japanas part oftherestrictions oftheServerViewSuiteonthe

This manual is aimed at users who havea sound knowledgeofhardwareand software, as
well as systemadministrators and serviceprofessionals. It provides anintroductionto the
functional scopeand operating concept ofInstallationManager and describes thevarious
options availablewheninstalling operating systems onyour PRIMERGYserver using
InstallationManager.
