Preface
If one can point at a structure of the human body on a medical image, there is
a name for that structure. See Right Through Me is an anatomical atlas that
attempts to provide this information in every plane and with every imaging
modality, in signi fi cant detail from head to toe.
This atlas differs from any predecessors, as it offers not only organ-speci fi c
anatomy but also clinically relevant modality-speci fi c information, such as
the expected density or signal intensity of normal structures. It also provides
information that is grouped for clinical relevance, such as a pediatric anat-
omy, endocrine anatomy, genital anatomy according to gender, and cranial
nerve pathway imaging.
We have made a clear choice at the outset to provide an anatomy atlas with
more images than text for an enhanced visual experience. The scattered
“pearl” boxes, however, offer insight from experts “in the know,” as well as
summaries of normal numerical values that are dif fi cult to remember.
See Right Through Me is ideal for radiologists, surgeons, physicians, and
even patients, and it has detail enough to satisfy both the expert and student
for learning or quick reference purposes. We hope you enjoy it.
