Introduction
Fulfilling the prophecies of the ancient Hindu scriptures,
the supreme Lord Shree Swaminarayan manifested upon
the Earth in a human form at the end of the eighteenth
century. For the benefit of people from all strata of society,
Lord Shree Swaminarayan continually travelled from
village to village, imparting spiritual knowledge and moral
guidance. His tireless travels are described as being:
ßÞt kŒeðt uíÞt kŒt‚ý ™rn ™ ußÞt kŒt‚ý íÞt kŒeðt u™rn
Jyā divo tyā dātan nahi ne jyā dātan tyā divo nahi
If He was at a particular place at sunrise, He would be
elsewhere by sunset
Wherever He went, He held assemblies to explain the
true fundamentals of humanitarian living. Through His
own compassionate conduct, He touched the lives of
countless souls, who were then inspired to follow the path
of God. Manifesting again in the form of Jeevanpran
Shree Abji Bapashree, He provided further elucidation to
His eternal philosophy.
Through Lord Shree Swaminarayan’s lineage of spiritual
ascetic heirs, i.e. the Acharyas - sovereigns of His divine
throne, Shree Swaminarayan Gadi, the wisdom of the
Lord has been kept flourishing. This divine lineage
comprises of Sadguru Shree Gopalanand Swami,
Sadguru Shree Nirgundasji Swami, Sadguru Shree
Ishwarcharandasji Swami and Jeevanpran Shree
Muktajeevan Swamibapa.

In 1979 CE, Jeevanpran Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa
entrusted the helm of the Faith to Acharya Swamishree
Purushottampriyadasji Maharaj. As the ambassador of
Lord Shree Swaminarayan and spiritual leader of
Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan, the
worldwide centre for spiritual, cultural and social welfare,
Acharya Swamishree has magnificently preserved and
propagated the divine philosophy of the Lord.
Travelling throughout the world, Acharya Swamishree has
engaged with innumerable people of all kinds. Whether
they are rich or poor, or of high or low stature, Acharya
Swamishree has given splendid teachings for the
improvement of their lives. He advises:
SŒk „e yðu e ™ Sðt uf u÷tfu t u‘VheÞtŒ’ fh u
…ý yðu e Sðt uf u÷tfu t u‘Vhe ÞtŒ’ fhu
Jindagi evi nā jivo ke loko ‘fariyād’ kare
pan evi jivo ke loko ‘fari yād’ kare
Live your life in a manner that people do not do ‘fariyād’
(complain) about you, but instead, they ‘fari yād’
(remember) you and your conduct
And for that:
‘„B{ u‚ðu ’kw ™ ƒt÷u t u…ý Ën™w u‘„{ u‚ðu ’kw ƒt÷u tu
‘Gamme tevu’ nā bolo pan sahu ne ‘game tevu’ bolo
Ensure that your words are not ‘gamme tevu’ (nasty and
worthless) but instead are ‘game tevu’ (likable) to all

During resolutions of disputes, He teaches never to make
big issues of small matters but to the contrary, learn to
make even significant issues into insignificant ones.
That is the manner to live in peace and harmony with one
another. That is the manner that the supreme Lord Shree
Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa wishes His children to
live according to.
His compassionate guiding words are universally
beneficial to everyone. His message of tolerance,
universal brotherhood and self improvement provide vital
life teachings for society to progress.
This collation of Acharya Swamishree’s teachings is
based on a book called Sadachar Sandesh, written in the
Gujarati language, which was compiled and retold by the
eminent writer, Shree Madhusudan Parekh (Priyadarshi).
This English edition has been written by Sants and
disciples of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi
Sansthan, with the divine blessings of Acharya
Swamishree Purushottampriyadasji Maharaj.
