Russia–Europepoliticalrelationshavealwaysbeenproblematic,andoneofthe
mainreasonsforthisisthetwosides’differentperspectivesoneventheverybasic
notionsandconceptsofpoliticallife.Withaworldwiderecession,theproblems
as well as opportunities in Russia–Europe relations are magnified. While most
works on Russia–Europe, Russia–America and Russia–West relations focus on
currentpoliciesandexplainthemfromastandardsetofexplanatoryvariables,this
bookpenetratesdeeperintothestructuralandideationaldifferencesthattendto
bringaboutmisperceptions,miscalculations,misinterpretationsandmisdeedsin
thistwo-directionalrelationship.Itappliesaverybroadconceptualframeworkto
analysedifferencesthatareasrelevantforEuropeandtheEUasitistoRussia’s
