equipment that can be helpful (see sidebar on page 10 for ideas on how to
use what you already have for equipment):
•Running watch with heart monitor feature: A digital wristwatch with
a stopwatch function tells you how long or how fast you are running
per a certain distance. A wristwatch with a heart monitor feature also
tells you if your heart is beating too fast, too slow, or just right to gain
the most fitness benefits from your workout. A watch with a heart
monitor costs about $100.
A digital stopwatch is a great way to time how fast you can run.
