hows behind this upsurge of power. And

was the person of Riza Shah Pahlavi, father
and predecessor of the present ruler.

Pahlavi and his times. His participation in
the coup d’etat of 1921 marked the open-
ing stage of the resurrection of his coun-
try, while his coronation in 1926 as the
first monarch of the Pahlavi dynasty

education and no fortune, he became an
absolute monarch, implacable in his hatred
of foreign influence, demanding of himself
