Part 1: Rites for the Feast of Resurrection
ةمايقلا ديع سقط

A. Midnight Praises
The praises are prayed in the festive tune as usual with the following observations:
1. The priests and deacons get together and start by reading the whole Book of John.
2. The prophecies are read, if they were not read during Communion in the Liturgy of
Bright Saturday.
3. The midnight prayer start with “Our Father Who Art In Heaven” and the “Thanksgiving
Prayer”.

4. The priest wraps the Bible in white linen and they go around the church, along with the
deacons, three times while chanting the hymn “Ten;enou” (Arise O Children). The hymn
is then chanted quickly along with Psalm 50.
5. The hymn “Tennau” is chanted followed by the Hoos for the eve of Resurrection.
6. A Psali is chanted for each of the four Hooses and the Commemoration of the Saints.
7. The hymn “Tenoueh `ncwk” is chanted in its joyful tune.
8. The Commemoration of the Saints is said (in the festive tune) as explained in the feast of
the Cross.
9. The Doxologies for the eve of Resurrection and the feast of Resurrection are chanted
followed by St. Mary and Archangel Michael for Resurrection.
10. The Psali of the feast of Resurrection is said in the festive tune followed by the Psali
“Aikw]”.
11. The Exposition is read.
12. The Antiphonarium (Dephnar) is not read.
13. The praise is concluded as usual.

D. Matins Prayers
The service is prayed in the festive tune with the following observations:
1. The priest prays the “Prayer of Thanksgiving”.
2. The Verses of Cymbal are chanted in the festive tune as follows:
a. It starts with the Morning Doxology from the first verse until the end of Hiten
noueu,y (Through their prayers …)
b. The Verses of Cymbal for Resurrection.
c. It is concluded as usual for the Feasts of the Lord (the verses of Pouro - O King of
Peace …)
3. The priest prays the Litany for the Sick, but does not perform the procession of the
incense.
4. The Morning Doxology is continued, as called the “Seven Tunes” starting from Piouwini
(O True Light) until the end of Qen han `'almoc (with a Psalm) in the festive tune.
5. The rest of the doxology is completed in the regular tune, followed by the ending of
the Adam Theotokias (nek nai O Panou] - Your mercies O Lord) and then
concluded with the hymn of joy Pouro in its festive tune.
6. The priest prays the Litany for the oblations (in its festive tune) and performs the
procession of the incense.
7. The congregation recites the praise of the angels (Let us praise with the angels), the
Trisagion (Holy God, Holy Mighty …) and the Lord’s prayer, and then the introduction
to the doxologies in the festive tune.
8. The Doxology for the Resurrection is chanted before the Doxology of St. Mary.

9. Parts of the Melody for the Resurrection are said, followed by the conclusion of the
doxologies, the Introduction to the Creed, and the Creed.
10. The priest prays “Vnou] nai nan”, and the congregation responds with “Kuri`e” in the
long tune.
11. The priest prays the Litany for the Gospel and the Psalm is said in the “Sengary” tune.
12. The response to the Psalm and the Gospel are chanted.
13. The Concluding Hymn is chanted.

D. The Liturgy
The service is prayed as usual in the festive tune with the following observations:
1. The Agpeya Psalms are not prayed.
2. The Lamb is brought in with the hymn of joy Pouro and examined while the deacons
chant the hymn “Alleluia of the oblations”.
3. The hymn “Allyloui`a vai pe pi” (Alleluia. This is the day) is chanted.
4. The hymns “Cw;ic Amyn” and “Tai soury” are chanted.
5. The response to the Praxis is chanted.
6. The Synaxarium is not read.
7. The hymn “Ya Kool Alsefoof = O All You Heavenly Hosts” and the Enactment of the
Resurrection is done followed by the procession around the altar and the nave of the
church with all hymns, as shown below.
8. The Trisagion is chanted with all three saying “Who is risen from the dead, have mercy
on us”.
9. The response to the Psalm and to the Gospel are chanted.
10. The Adam Aspasmos “Christ Our God has Risen From The Dead” is chanted
11. The Watos Aspasmos “And They Also Laid Him In The Tomb” is chanted.
12. The Resurrection fraction is prayed.
13. The response to Psalm 150 is chanted.
14. A Melody for the Feast of Resurrection is chanted after Psalm 150.
15. The Concluding Hymn is chanted.
