Communicationand dataminingare the two major,rapidlydevelopingareasofcom-
puterscienceinourtoday’snetworkedsociety.Amanifoldsetofdevicesstartingfrom
mobilephonesandcomputersuntilsensorsandusualhouseholdappliancesareableto
run programsas well as send and receive data to satisfy the needs of their owners in
an efficient manner. More and more, the network becomes an intelligent and context
sensitiveenvironment,whichcanmeetowndecisionsinalimitedareaandadaptitself
topermanentlychangingconditions.
Ourpublishedbookisatrytopresentsomerecentresearchworkandresultsinthe
areaofcommunicationandinformationtechnologies.Fortheeleventhtime,researchers
from overtwenty countriescontributewith their chaptersto the success of this book,
wellguidedfromseventymembersofourprogramandeditorialboard,whichaskedthe

permanentmonitoringandcontrolbyevenunknownthirdauthorities.
To presentall aspects of the described developments,the book is divided into two
mainparts.ThefirstisdedicatedtoDataMiningandMachineLearning.Thesecondis
relatedtotopicsfromDataNetworkandCommunications.Afterdiscussingnewalgo-
rithmsandmethodsofdatamining,thereaderwillbecurioustogettoknowabouttheir
innovativeapplicationsinthesecondsectionofourvolume.Securityisthetopicofour
third chapter, which is related to all aspects of secure data processing also including
ethicalguidelinesfordataminingaswellassafetyandfaulttoleranceofdatastorage
andtransfersinourtoday’scomputersystems.Hereby,theuserandtherespectiveper-
son’sbehaviourstandinthecenterofinterests:humansdecidewhichsolutionwillbe
accepted and applied in their daily life, but on the other hand, the exploration of the
users and their habits are in the focusof mostcompanies,governmentsand therefore
