Fortwodecades,theCIRPLifeCycleEngineering(LCE)Conferencehascontinueditssteadycoursesinceitscreation.Ithasgrownsignif-
icantlybeyonditsoriginalscopesandobjectivesandhasseenresearchersinthisfielddoubledandtripledinthelast10years.Sustainable
manufacturingisamajorinitiativeofalmostallthemanufacturingindustriesworldwide,inanefforttoprolongthelifeofproducts,reducethe
useoftoxicmaterialsandcarbonfootprint,conserveenergy,notonlyformeetingtheneedsofthemanufacturersandconsumers,butalsothe
multi-stakeholdersintheentirebusinesschain.
In2013,Singaporehasthehonorofhostingthe20thCIRPLCE,withitsorganizersfromSIMTech,theSingaporeInstituteofManufacturing
TechnologyandtheNationalUniversityofSingapore.ForSingapore,thisisamajorCIRPeventsincetheGeneralAssemblywhichwasheldin
1994.
Theconferencehasacceptedsome117papersfrom28countries.Allthepapershavebeensubjecttotherigorouspeerreviewandrevision
