Dear you,
1993 marks the centenary of the first ever telephone conversation and also the mail-
out of our first newsletter - well, hasn't communication come a long way in the past
hundred years. O.K. so this sheet may not look much yet but that first conversation
was hardly a crystal-clear satellite link-up and just look at the impact it's had on
civilisation. Anyway, we're doing it ourselves and we don't even reverse the charges.
1993 has also marked our first headline tour, chart entry and TV appearance which
are, in no small way, due to you. So, thanks to everyone who has come to see us play
live, bought one of our records and has just generally shown an interest in us. It makes
us feel wanted and, at last, we've got something to talk about.
We've just recorded our next single, "Pop Is Dead", due for release on May 10th
through Parlophone and available on all formats. It's not on our album, "Pablo
Honey", just look on it as a taste of things to come. It will include an acoustic version
of another new song as well as two live tracks. We'll also be out on a UK tour around
that time with Slrangelove supporting us. So far the dates are: Wolverhampton,
Wulfrun Hall (April 30th); Nottingham Trent University (May 1st); Sheffield
University (2nd); Glasgow King Tilt's (5th); Leicester University (6th); Leeds
University (7th); Manchester University (8th); Newcastle Riverside (9th); Bristol
University (10th); ULU (12th); Dublin Rock Garden (14th) and Belfast Conor Hall
(15th). We'll also be playing at the Phoenix Festival on July 16th. Watch the press for
any changes - anyway, we'll be sending out more details at the time-
We're also in the process of setting up a mail-order merchandise list, details of which
will be sent out when completed.
Presumably William Alexander Bell's first words on the telephone must have been:
"p*** m6) jt works!". This pretty much sums up our sentiments so far this year. So,
