staff would like to dedicate the
2012-2013 Quips and Cranks to
Clark
^
Stepping down from his position as Vice
President for Academic Affairs and Dean of
Faculty after 15 years, Clark Ross has been
an influential and supportive figure at
Davidson through his various roles. Ross
plans to rejoin the Economics Department
faculty after a year-long sabbatical, as he
reaches his 34th year as a part of the
Davidson College family. We thank him for
his years of service to the school thus far!
he Duke Endowment
This year, Davidson College received a
generous gift of $45 million from the Duke ^
0
Endowment. The Duke Endowment is a
private foundation based in Charlotte,
originally founded by James B. Duke, that ||
provides annual financial support to several
higher education institutions in the area, a
Davidson College has now received over 1
$167 million from this foundation. This gift ^
allows Davidson to begin a massive 10-year fc
renovation plan for academic buildings and
our concept of a liberal arts education. The
renovations will restructure the academic
portion of the campus to foster
interdisciplinary learning, allowing for more
original student research and collaboration.
We are grateful for this gift from the Duke
Endowment and are thrilled to begin these
campus-wide improvements!
