We are having our 2nd Gun Show on the 9th and 10th of
April. I hope we can have good crowds for both days.
Nobles come on out and browse around, you might find
something you can’t do without.
The Potentate’s Ball will be on the 16th of April. A
spaghetti dinner will be on Friday, April 15th. Please come
out and join us. The annual Red Fez Easter Egg Hunt will
be on Saturday, April 23rd and will start at 11:00 a.m. Bring
the kids out and let them hunt some eggs. All clubs, units
and individuals that want to help with the food donations,
please see Janie Sherrell. She will donate any monies left
over to the General Fund.
Folks don’t forget the Screening Clinic in Rhea County on
April 30th , from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. If anyone knows a
child who needs our help, please bring or send them to the

Chaplain’s Corner
“Dear Lord of second chances and new beginnings,
Here I am again.” For many years this simple prayer
was taped on my father’s mirror. It was one of the first
things he saw in the morning, every morning. It
reminded him that each day was a new beginning and
that, with God’s help, we have the chance to be better
than we were yesterday. As we face the coming of
spring, a time of rebirth and new beginnings, let us
remember to give thanks to God for the new chance we
have every day to be better men than we have ever
been. Let us learn to lean on God’s strength rather
than our own weakness. May we always remember the
words of Proverbs 3:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
May this be the year of God’s blessing in your life.

Legion of Honor
The important activity for our unit has been our candy
sales. Our sales this year at this time is ahead of last
year. Our men have worked hard and it is showing.
We have one man, Charlie Watson that is active in our
group, and every time I pick up the Hixson paper, I
read about his work in the Lions Club. I will say that
for a retired person, this is a busy man.
It is with great sorrow, that we report the death of
Virginia Starr of Naples, Florida. Virginia is the sister
of John Eubanks. Let us remember this family in our
prayers.
We continue to pray for the safe return of our forces in
harms way. Let us remember to thank all Veterans for
the service they have given. Some have given more
than others, and some gave all they had. I hope that
we can experience peace soon.

Widow’s Club
I would like to take this opportunity to let our members
know how much I enjoy our meetings and their
friendship. If you know a Shrine Widow please ask
them to visit with us the first Sunday of each month.
Thanks to Betty Shankels for our Valentine theme
refreshments in February. Just a reminder, our 2011
dues are now due. I leave you with this thought,
understanding enhances true piety.

2nd Annual Brother’s Keepers Burn Run
Motorcycle
Rodeo Slated for May 21st
Brothers Keepers are firefighters from Lexington and
the surrounding areas who enjoy riding and giving
back to the communities they serve. Last year their
first event raised over $1,000.00 in donations to
Shriners Hospitals for Children, Lexington and
Cincinnati.
The event, held in the Galls Parking Lot on the corner
of Palumbo and Todds Road, is an impressive display
of riding skills competition, great food, good music, a
silent auction, and ends with a motorcycle ride through
the beautiful Kentucky countryside. Photos and more

Just a short report about the Potentate and the Divan.
They’ve been very busy visiting our many different
Shrine Clubs and meeting at the Shrine Center. The
Pocket Calendars are ready to pick-up. If you don’t
have a calendar, swing by the office and ask for one.
Last month the Divan visited Alee Shrine Center in
Savannah, Georgia, for Illustrious Sir Robert
Kozlowski’s Potentate Ball. We were treated like

royalty. This was a great trip! Thanks to our Divan

shine with our Potentate Ball. Thanks to all that have

been working so hard to make it a success.

O’Possum Creek Shrine Club
Hey, Creekers! We are up and runnin with President
Don Payne. I hope everyone can keep up. At last
month’s meeting we had to bring in an extra table for
food and extra tables for Creekers. We had a full
house – thanks! The candy is all gone thanks to you
and Chairman Daryl Isham and his Lady Dorothy.

TV Station KWN7 promoting the Trenton Screening Clinic. Thanks to our Divan, too. As you might know, if they
are in town, they are at our meetings and support all
our Club functions. The big event coming up is the
Potentate’s Ball on the 15th and 16th. We all need to be
there. Those of you helping will be able to take a rest
soon. Fun Fest is May 5th – 8th in Pigeon Forge. All
kinds of fun things are goin on at the Shrine Center.
Check your calendars for upcoming events. Let’s go
with “Helping Kids and Having Fun in 20-1-1”.

A HOUSE BUILT ON POPCORN AND LOVE

The first time Kim Chapman saw Patrick Sharrock was at a Gospel Night at Alhambra Center. Kim was the Master
of Ceremonies for the evening’s events. She was looking for a seat close to the stage. Patrick saw her and said, “Sit
right here, Lady”. Patrick got a bag of popcorn and offered Kim some before he had eaten any. That impressed Kim.
She knew he had been raised properly. He won her over that night with his jokes and by just being Patrick. Kim
asked Patrick to be her boyfriend. Patrick said, “NO! You have Bob. Yes sireee, Bob”. Kim nominated the
Sharrock family for a home makeover and the rest is history.

...a message from your president

Welcome to the Red Fez Shrine Club 2011. The first item on our agenda is to thank Junior Past President Billy
Armour and his Lady Peggy. With his leadership the “Fez” stayed on solid ground and put us in a great position to
move forward. A tip of the fez to Billy and his family.
Although we are looking a little gloomy, just wait until March 19th and 26th as we begin our season with Sparkle Day!
With David Pelfrey as our entertainment chairman, we are all looking forward to many fun filled gatherings this
summer. Stay tuned each month as we start counting down the days until the fun begins.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your 2011 President. Come enjoy your Club and let’s make it a great year.
