Preface
ThisvolumecontainsthepapersacceptedforpresentationatAfricacrypt2022,the13th
InternationalConferenceontheTheoryandApplicationofCryptographicTechniques
inAfrica.Theaimofthisseriesofconferencesistoprovideaninternationalforumfor
practitioners and researchers from industry, academia, and government agencies for a
discussionofallformsofcryptographyanditsapplications.Theinitiativeoforganizing
Africacryptstartedin2008anditwasfirstheldinMorocco.Subsequentyearlyevents
were held in Tunisia, South Africa, Senegal, Morocco, and Egypt. This year, on the
initiative of Abderrahmane Nitaj and with the great support of Sidi Mohamed Ben
AbdellahUniversity,Fes,Morocco,Africacrypt2022,whichisorganizedincooperation
with the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR), was held in Fes,
duringJuly18–20.
We received 68 submissions authored by researchers from countries from all over
theworld,includingAustraliaandtheAmericas.Afteradouble-blindreviewingprocess
thatincludedonlinediscussionandinvolved46ProgramCommitteemembersand37
external reviewers, we decided to accept 25 papers resulting in an acceptance rate of
around37%.Allsubmittedpapersreceivedatleastthreereviews.WethanktheProgram
Committee and the external reviewers for their diligent work and fruitful discussions
andwethanktheauthorsofallsubmittedpapersforsupportingtheconference.
Theconferenceprogramfeaturedtwokeynotespeakers,LilyaBudaghyanfromthe
University of Bergen, Norway, and Matthieu Rivain from Cryptoexperts, France. We
were happy that they both agreed to attend and deliver their keynotes physically. The
technicalprogramwasalsoenrichedbyapostersessionorganizedbyStjepanPicek.We
thankStjepanfortakingthispartoftheprogramfullyoutofourhandsandtakingcare
ofsubmissions,finalversions,andchairingthepostersession.
TheGeneralChairs,LhoussainElFadilofSidiMohamedBenAbdellahUniversity,
Fes, Morocco, and Abderrahmane Nitaj, and the local organizing committee were a
pleasuretoworkwith.SpecialthanksgoestoKonstantinaMiteloudiwhocreatedand
setuptheconferencewebsiteandexecutedalltheupdates,almostinstantly.SolaneEl
hirschisthankedforcollectingalltheacceptedpapers’finalversionstobeprocessedby
