I
t’s only natural that a book on Praying should be dedicated to praying
people. When I began teaching the Pastor’s Bible Class (attendance
1,400) at my church in 1978, I also joined the early morning prayer meet-
ing held there.
I bless these people who have done more to bless my ministry than any
other group. I’ve often said, “This is my most important meeting of each
week. I wouldn’t miss it because I get so much from it.” Why? Because
with prayer the weak can become strong.
The book by C. Peter Wagner, Prayer Shield, challenged me to get prayer
partners for my ministry. So I read parts of that book to the early Sunday
morning prayer meeting. Then I asked these prayer warriors a question
that seemed selfish because it was about the things I was doing. I asked
them, “Will you make my ministry your ministry of prayer?” Then I con-
tinued, asking them, “Don’t make a spur of the moment decision, pray
about it for a week. Make sure it’s of God.”
A week later Buddy Bryant said God was putting that burden upon his
heart. We’ve prayed together ever since. Therefore, I dedicate this book,
Praying the Book of Acts and the General Epistles, to him and the team of
intercessors: Priscilla Baker, Margie Balta, Katie Bowles, Buddy Bryant,
Harry and Janet Coric, Randy Dodge, Tip and Laurie Killingsworth,
Trudy LaMar, Don May, Martin and Edwina Morgan, Esther Morrison,
