Die vorliegende Studie macht grundlegende kognitive Prozesse korpuslinguistisch greifbar, welche die Wahl phorischer Ausdrucke (vor allem Anaphern) und die referentielle Informationsentfaltung beeinflussen.Ketten von phorischen Ausdrucken finden sich letztlich in allen authentischen Diskursen menschlicher Sprache, da sie massgeblich fur die referentielle Koharenz verantwortlich sind. Bei der Wahl dieser Ausdrucke steht den Produzenten ein breites Spektrum an sowohl direkten als auch indirekten phorischen Techniken zur Verfugung, um referentielle Koharenz herzustellen und mit ihrer Hilfe die Information im Diskurs zu entwickeln. Die Studie untersucht in einer kontrollierten korpuslinguistischen Umgebung, welche Prinzipien (u.a. die Kapazitat des Arbeitsgedachtnisses und Interferenzeffekte) sich auf die Wahl von Anaphern auswirken, und wie diese Wahl auf allgemeine kognitive Prinzipien, einer Maxime der Formenokonomie sowie einer Maxime der Maximierung von Textkoharenz, zuruckgefuhrt werden kann.Die theoretisch angenommenen Einflussfaktoren werden empirisch erfasst und die Starke dieser Effekte erstmalig auf der Textoberflache quantitativ gemessen.
